Sooooo this is just a design on what I thought Ohio and Ontario would look like if they were personified. And after talking with my pals in both Ohio and Ontario, here's the result.
Ohio = obsessed college football nut who has this love-hate relationship with his younger brother Michigan. He acts tsundere most of the time and he's a bit dull, considering he lives amongst cornfields.
Ontario = the workaholic Canadian neighbor who constantly bangs his broom on the floor and yelling for them to keep it down, which is ironic since both Ohio and Michigan are both older than him. x3

I see Ontario as a workaholic yes, but also kind of a douche, to be honest, also he idolizes New York for being so productive
I love this so much, and, to be honest, I've also considered personifying the provinces and some states, and personality traits you recommend?

hmmm well what I'd do first if I was you, is try your hand at personifying what province you're from. Get to know about the culture around you. Think about the stereotypes, the non-stereotypes, how the people from said province act like as a whole...their views on their fellow neighbors, their own history.... and then once you got that done and put together, you can try others, like cities or other provinces.

Ontario: workaholic, considerate of other cultures, but he's still an attention whore, and he idolizes New York for having such a strong work ethic, despite all this he still knows how to party, even if he doesn't want to know how, has a relationship with Quebec similar (the same) as England and France have, but Ontario's taken it upon himself to keep Quebec from separating from the rest of Canada
Possible running gags: jealous of Alberta for all the money she has, distrusts Germans, refuses to learn french, knows literally nothing about agriculture (what's that word mean?) one-sided bromance with NY, also, thanks to you, I can add Ohio to this mix
but this matters little as my story is going to centre around the Prairie Provinces

Dont forget to put in running gags about the bordering the Great Lakes, Saskatoon and Regina eue Oh and that whole Ukrainian dance troupe thing, and something about Manitoba being even more dull than Ontario lol

listen when I say Manitoba isn't dull, sure she's calm and ladylike, but don't cross her, she'll sick her polar bear on you
otherwise I have some running gags already in the works, like how Alberta has a split personality disorder, me and the other co-creator of this have Alberta have 'lumberjack rage', it'll be fun, also BC is a stoner, Yukon loves flaunting the riches she made during the gold rush

also, I've never met a single person that's ever mistaken Yukon for Alaska (or vice-versa) so I', not exactly sure where you got that

The Dominion of Canada was first made up of Ontario, Quebec, Nova Scotia and New Brunswick, before the other territories came in and became provinces as well. And provinces usually go in order of how much population they had at the time if they entered Canada at the same time. :3
