would you ever sacrifice 10 minutes of your day to do a mini tutorial on armour patterns? >.<

Do you use some layering guidline when youΒ΄re doing the sketches? or just use one layer? D:

Amazing work!, but, i have a question, which effect do you used in the first sketches for do the illusion of detail in the chest?

anotherwanderer In reply to 0oki [2014-08-01 16:59:20 +0000 UTC]

Layer styles, bevel and emboss.

Astral-Muffin In reply to anotherwanderer [2014-08-01 20:44:25 +0000 UTC]

I'm curious, after doing that in the sketch do you keep refining that version with bevel and emboss or start from scratch? The result looks amazing

anotherwanderer In reply to Astral-Muffin [2014-08-01 21:25:10 +0000 UTC]

I started from scratch, but i used bevel and emboss again at some point. Basically i drew the flat design, i applied the layer style to make it look 3D, then i kept painting it over.

Pimpernel [2014-06-26 19:28:50 +0000 UTC]

Beautiful, and interesting to look at. The first sketch showed a whole different pose!
I kinda prefer the dark atmosphere in this drawing in its early stages, I think the outcome is a little too bright. But that's just me

anotherwanderer In reply to Pimpernel [2014-06-28 08:44:08 +0000 UTC]

The first sketch is another version. The other one got picked, but i included it because variants are part of the painting process. I also liked it darker at first, then i thought it's too dark and made it lighter, but, now that you mention it, i might have gone a bit overboard with it.

anotherwanderer In reply to Vercyngetorix [2014-06-26 11:37:47 +0000 UTC]

Thanks! Do you mean tips for adding more details to paintings? Most often you don't need to paint actual details, just give the illusion of it. You could try looking for some funky custom brushes, or play with the basic brush settings for richer textures on the background objects. Other than that, it takes just patience and practice.

Thanks for your answer!! I'll try to play with brush.
If you have any notice on my paint, I will glad to read them and practice more

I didn't realize the face looks so disturbingly young, i figured she would be about 17-18. But i have some difficulties telling people's age in real life too, so i guess that explains it.

Tama-o-hoi In reply to anotherwanderer [2014-06-26 07:26:33 +0000 UTC]

Yeah, I wasnt really being serious. Many kids/teens carry their youthful looks into adulthood - I think its called "neoteny" or something.
