What is it with Germans and the trappings of Antiquity. You guys have the best collections of Mesopotamian artifacts in the world, the brits might have you beat in Egypt, but I dont really know.

You certianly love your egypt. that is clear. and what's not to love about Egypt. Any culture that can stack that many big stones on top of one another, has to be worth paying attention to.

yes, the brith beat us in Egypt and I thing they have the biggest collection too. Anyway, that civilisation was impressive!

agreed. but hell, all those old civilizations are pretty impressive. where would we be without them.

Wow. Did you paint in the blue background pattern yourself or was that overlaid during the digital phase?

I like it. This was another one that would constantly come up in my spread. But I am a cancer and most certainly in touch with my inner being. The only thing that bothers me with this is it looks like she's confined without her arms being present. In the same token though I think many of us feel that way. It really is very nice though.

anubis46 In reply to ChaosKatie [2007-01-12 09:25:10 +0000 UTC]

...hm, interesting aspect. I never saw her as being confined. I thought her arms are hidden under her "toga" for two reasons. To me this figure is not really active in a sens of doing something physically, it is much more a very spiritual "presence"... (hard to describe for me in English). And when she "does" something, it is hidden from our eyes.

The power comes from within, being able to accomplish many things on the spiritual plain without the use of our physical parts. I totally understand what your saying.

I love it and the colors are wonderful.

I enjoy how you made her clothing melt into the rest of the piece. The blue reminds me of the sea or the sky, both of which I think of as feminine (though I know that isn't the case in all cultures). That sort of symbolism always makes me feel as if I have a mother watching out for me in some way. I don't know the actual symbolic meaning behind this card, but those are just my two cents. So in other words that aren't so pretentious , I liked it and it's a really nice piece. If you did a whole Tarot card deck and I wasn't poor, I would probably buy it.

Seems I was able to transmit the message fairly decent since you describe it quite well. At least some important aspect od it.

I'm going to post some more info about my Tarot sometime soon

That's very cool! I love museums....it's just a shame that they are always so crowded and you can not spend the time looking at things that you'd really like to explore in great detail because you must rush along....so it must be very nice for you to be able to enjoy them in peace outside of the normal hours.

i dont know how or why but it shows up in my devwatch. it could be since it such a new upload, it might take the server a bit to show it.

it happens sometimes ... the server did go down last night for service. so they probably were working out a glitch of some kind. this is the aftermath... anytime they go and fix something, another issue pops up. though, this issue has been around for a long time. i guess it has to do with have all the servers they are using now. sigh, it used to be only one server that would handle everything... and it went down alot!!

anubis46 In reply to smartmonkeee [2007-01-10 08:29:50 +0000 UTC]

the fixing one thing and therefore another something failing reminds me of a french car I once had... I love France! (really!)

I had three Renaults... Nr. II was the worst. A shock absorber broke off the day I bought the d. thing and then there was something else almost every day. I even had to learn to shift whithout a clutch... it worked

The poor BMW was probably not used to thr good warm weather

i have only owned german motors... from my first car which was a 72 bug with a 914 racing engine in it to my latest, 93 vw fox. i love my car.. it has 215,000 miles on it and it still keeps going tho, now the starter is dead. small things seem to be going. my dad keeps saying , buy a new car... but i tell him. dad, it has so many good things about it. lol

anubis46 In reply to smartmonkeee [2007-01-10 19:51:59 +0000 UTC]

I've had all kinds. The French had style but the quality was the worst. I remember a dead starter (long time ago), well wasn't kompletely dead, one had to hit it with a hammer to get it going. After my girlfriend got stuck at a light and had to ask someone to help her she was going for me with the hammer. Only took 5 weeks to get the spare part... Had a VW also, now that was one good car and quite spiffy! Ja, I'll stick to German now, really love my bike though (BMW)

went on a ride with me *roaaaar*
