Well, I grind for supports because I want to see all the dialogue, so I can't say it usually bothers me, although I do get annoyed about the game prompting me to pick an S support mostly because I worry about accidentally choosing one before I'm ready haha. But it's not like it's cheating for them to just talk to other characters, even if some of the A supports do kinda border on S. The way that you have to get Chrom to marry Olivia is very frustrating to me, though. Kinda defeats the whole idea of building up a relationship gradually as well as being harder to pull off than it should be.

True enough, it technically is just talking, though as you've pointed out some of the dialogues border on outright Shakespearean declarations of love. I dunno, guess I'm just an oddball like that! And I definitely know what you mean about the S supports, it's almost frustrating to wind up with two sitting there taunting you in the selection window. I'm almost ashamed to admit it, but I haven't beaten Awakening's main quest yet simply because I'm trying to get as many supports as I can and unlock all the kids. Goshdarnit, we never had this problem with the older games!

Yeah, to be honest it is a little frustrating to me that all the opposite-sex supports have to end in romance and thus the earlier supports are always leading up to that, removing the possibility of alternate relationship dynamics. Oddly enough I don't really get that invested in FE ships; I can't say there's anything that reaches OTP status from any of the games for me. Ironic since anytime I draw a picture of two FE characters together, it gets interpreted as ship art haha. I may or may not sometimes bait shippers on purpose

Haha yeah, I'm dreading the day they make a sequel to Awakening that reuses the entire gameplay system with new characters, because they could just keep us busy forever if they kept throwing more supports at us. No need to be ashamed of not beating the main quest yet; I still wouldn't have either if I'd waited till I'd gotten everything first. I still don't have most of the children because I keep wanting to see all the supports before deciding on a pairing, and then I have to grind for skills as well. I'm not sure if I'll ever get them all at this rate, unless I decide to give in and skip the eugenics.

Y'know, that's a good point and something that sort of flew over my head since playing Awakening. I hadn't realized that, but on closer inspection, you're right! And it's a bit surprising honestly, considering that the previous entries in the series weren't like that! I'm sort of struggling to find more than a few specific examples, though Legault and Isadore's A-level support in Fire Emblem 7 is the one that's really popping into my mind right now. That was a well written support tree and ending...

As for OTPs, it's a mixed bag for me. A lot of the potential pairings seem like they could work, but my experience is rather limited to FE 7, 8, and Awakening. If anything, 7 felt like the best in terms of "OTP material", and even that had about 5 or 6 open-ended possibilities that would have worked splendidly! I don't necessarily see much of your artwork as shipping fuel, unless there's something being overtly displayed; then again, I do like to think about the Fire Emblem armies as sort of one big family when it comes to the characters. Something tells me a great many people (all more vocal than I) don't necessarily share that view!

I'm already dreading a sequel...Since I started playing Awakening I've clocked something close to 25 or 26 hours in it, and I don't even play it as religiously as I did FE7 and 8. The idea that we could be treated to more of the same is positively scary. Be still my ever-elusive free time!

It was one of the first things I noticed actually and I miss that aspect of the supports a lot, because quite a lot of them were like that in older games (it’s hard for me to think of them offhand too, but there were all of Pent and Louise’s supports with other people, and ones like Canas/Nino or Renault/Isadora… and yes, Legault/Isadora is a good support, it was interesting hearing Legault reminisce about the Fang). It also allowed for guardian-type relationships with younger characters, which I much prefer to the awkward romantic supports between older characters and ones like Nowi and Ricken. I think the marriage mechanic was great and fun for one game, but I don’t think I want to see it exactly the same way in all future Fire Emblems.

Yeah, maybe one of the reasons I don’t seem to really have OTPs in this series is that it always seems like any number of options could work equally well and then it feels a bit less special when you make a pairing. (That and I cannot handle having more than a couple OTPs to draw for; I already have two in other fandoms and that’s too many already.) Awakening did a good job finding common ground between all the characters; most of the potential ships seem very fitting and I usually end up liking more than one pair for each character. Thanks for saying that you don’t necessarily see my art as shipping fuel; I’m glad of that because, with the exception of those two OTPs from other fandoms, I make an effort to leave my portrayals of close relationships open to interpretation (except for Maribelle/Libra because they were the first pairing I married off that I actually liked). People on tumblr love to interpret everything as shipping though, which is fine but I’d rather not come out and say myself that I ship something because I don’t really care and I’d rather avoid pairing wars. I always liked to see Fire Emblem armies as one big family, too! I really liked the parent/guardian-like interactions between younger characters and older ones in previous games for that reason.

25 or 26 hours… ahahaha, I’ve clocked in, uh, several times that. I honestly don’t remember the last time I clocked this much time in a game since I was a little kid and played Pokemon for days, and I actually really want to break myself of the addiction but I still find myself checking in every day to see the new Risen that have popped up on the map. I’d seriously appreciate more new games that are short and quick to play so that I wouldn’t be faced with an ever-growing monster library of 60-hour titles as I get older, but then the series I am interested in are usually like that, so I have no one to blame but myself.

Hahaa yeah, sounds about right. You can pretty much just stick a paired-up powerhouse within enemy range and press Start and then sit back and the map will be clear.

And most of my powerhouses are mages, so every enemy that attacks them dies unless its a sorcerer with a mire tome or a sniper with a longbow.

Yeah that's what I'm doing, but I just love Cynthia, she's so cute, and their supports were adorable... I'll wait till I have all the supports though, just to make sure I have the option of changing my mind... But honestly I don't know who I'd pair Cynthia with if it wasn't Morgan, I paired Sumia with Chrom so Owain is her cousin, so I can't exactly do that...

In my both playthrough, i paired Chrom ALWAYS with Sully....
i dont like his other options, only Sully and MU fits x"D
And yeah,  have to say that i hate Sumia, because of the FUCKING Opening of the game .___.
Its evil to see that Nintendo says: "Alright Fans! Lets destroy all your "Who is Chroms Canon-wife?"-Ideas!" with this >3>
So i paired Sumia with Frederick (i dont like him, too x"D) and Cynthia got Owain in my game :"D

Hmm... I kinda like Sumia... I guess I sort of identify with her maybe because she messes up all the time and because of that, she feels like she's useless... and I had a period of time when I felt like that, because I was getting bullied at school and lost nearly all my friends...
Plus Lucina has Galeforce XD
... And it is possible to skip the opening, you know. Although I agree that Nintendo could have made it a bit more subtle, I guess...

That is precisely why I'm waiting until I finish all the supports XD

That moment = the entire duration of the enemy's turn, at the end of which she's left standing on a mountain of bodies because the AI doesn't recognize a nosferatank when it sees one. <_< *cleared Priam's paralogue this way and will forever feel cheap for having done so*
