Why is that such a good song, and the animation was so amazing. When I first saw the video my mind was just blown!Β

Adorable. You did a good job capturing the looks from the video, and the lighting on the diamonds, armor, and redstone all seem appropriate. The lighting on Sweetie Belle is a little off, but then again, with several sources, I think it works pretty well. The diamond block somewhat seems like it's producing its own light rather than reflecting it a bit, but I think that might just be the soft blue around the diamond chunks. It's hard to tell, looking at that vast expanse of cave behind them, if there are mob shadows back there (it somewhat looks like one next to the coal block), but adding something back there would be a nice subtle touch. Very nice gift for your cousins.

oh I tried to give the diamond block it's own light source, since it's so prized in minecraft it pretty much glows with it's own aura of "I'm awesome"Β

And the next thing you know a Creeper will jump out of the shadows and steal your ores, while you rage internally at your spawn.
But that's a nice cave and good lighting and I agree with you the lighting on Sweetie Belle is somewhat off but still it looks good to my eye. ;3

I personally think it's pretty dang cool. At the very least the basic setup/'concept' for this piece is there, as well as on how you did the resource cubes, although given my almost complete inexperience with Minecraft perhaps my opinion isn't reliable on that point
In any case, it looks pretty good to me. Lighting, mainly with manes(especially with this piece in particular, as you yourself said), would be an ideal area for you to work on next. Keep up the improvement, manΒ :iconpinkiepiesmileplz:

ya sometime I get a little complicated with light sources and their directions so then it starts falling apart since I'm not sure about the angles and the way the shadows would wrap around objects like their legs or hair

It's all in the practice, I still have a long ways to go before I could say I'm alright.
It takes years, I've only been at it for 2

well you can say yes I started 6 or 7 years ago, but it all depends on how much you actually did practice for those years to say "yes, I've been steadily drawing for 6-7 years"

Ardail In reply to PACEEION [2013-12-17 07:18:25 +0000 UTC]
That's not true at all. Take Cosmic unicorn for example. She does digital and lots of oil paintings. Those oil paintings are so good, and the oil it's self leaves a texture and brush strokes you can't get in digital. Which makes it even more fantastic to hang up.
And there's a lot of other traditional styles digital can mimic, but it's not really the same.Β

yeah well every contest ive ever been in 15 ive lost to digital works of art in my opinion thats cheating but hay a armature artist like me stands no chance

Ardail In reply to PACEEION [2013-12-18 17:44:11 +0000 UTC]
eh, I've seen traditional win a lot as well. Here take this picture for example. She uses color pencils and no digital in making it and a lot of other dragonsΒ

mine isn't that good either as far as I know, i'm practically an undiscovered artist, I only got two watchers that never seem to see my art or comment on it and the only person who's ever commented on one of my images is Vengelfe from youtube.
