More like usual reaction, when communicating with someone, who have totally different mindset - just repeating the newly learned ritual. Seen a lot of it IRL - like when jap guy was on the stay in dagestani family's house. It appears, that loroi are much more humanlike, than it seems.

Maybe. But maybe it's a caste-induced behaviour. From lore pieces I read, it looks like, that soroin was initially (and partially is today) a servant caste.

As far, as I remember correctly, Cloud is the only highlighted soroin so far - all others were on the background, minding their business. And considering other "close encounters" - obviously, listel and tenoin are much more extrovert "by design".

She is the only one with a name a bunch were in chapter one doing things like leading the way in repairs.

Yep. So, my extrapolations could be wrong. Anyway, loroi are obviously created after star control's sirens, who are not exactly what they seem...
Aaand, since you're into sci-fi stories - I and some friends are developing the similar setting for a several years. Just much more grim and realistic (no fancy hi-tech, almost no aliens). All I have on DA by now - is a few crappy translations, but feel free to browse and ask questions.
