I hope they catch this woman. What she deserves is to be caught and thrown in the middle of the woods with no food or clothing. I am glad at least this little dear survived. She has such cute markings.

poor little dear!! she's getting lots of water, I'm assuming, because that tongue tells me that she's dehydrated. poor girl though... she's such a mess. I hope to see another picture of this lucky little lady (after all, she got to you guys) after she's recovered a great deal.
I might not work at a rescue, but I do what I can to rescue animals when I can. We have a cat that was abandoned in a know spot in our county... people drive up to this swamping back part of a large park, where the park backs up to an end of the road shelter for dangerous dogs (my boyfriend and his dad went there once and were informed that this shelter was the one where all the other local shelters sent the dogs that were too dangerous to allow near potential adopters) and a police pistol range. my boyfriend's dad was eating lunch on the edge of the park and this emaciated tuxedo kitty comes running up to him and begs... he gave the cat part of his egg salad sandwich, and the kitty ate the whole piece, bread and all. So he went over the the wal-mart (the area of the park he was in was right behind it) and picked up a kitty carrier. the cat was still waiting when he brought the carrier back. another piece of the sandwich convinced the kitty into the carrier and got him a good home where the kitty was named Nick. this coming spring, Nick will have been with us for three years and he really is a completely different cat than he was when he joined our family. when he came to us his nictitating membranes were stuck halfway closed, his tongue stuck out, and he was rather unpredictable. He hopped on top my lap to express his joy at the fact that he had found people who cared and brought him inside where there was plenty of food and clean water and he didn't have to worry about anything.... and I thought he was asking for a pet... he wasn't. poor kitty has PTSD from his old life, but it rarely shows up these days. where he was initially a jumpy, angry seeming cat, swiping at anything and everything, getting hissy when people walked near him and a number of other difficult tendencies, now Nick is a loving lap cat. he is cuddly and adores getting pet and his favorite thing to do is cuddle "his daddy" (aka my boyfriend's dad. he winds up being the pet-daddy) But, sometime he's not in the mood for pets. I don't know if Nick seems to have changed so much to use simply because we took the time to understand Nick and his rules or if he really has changed as much as it looks like, perhaps its a mix of both.... but I do know that this experience make me feel stronger that there should be a list given to shelters and people trying to rehome their cats of people not to do business with....
man though... I hope the woman that abandoned the tortie girls gets caught.... after all, she's more likely to get caught than whoever abandoned our Nick, she's been seen in the act.

Lots of water, food, and a new name! (Nevaeh). Sweet girl is recovering at a decent pace.. She's just very lucky to be alive! We think that if it had been a week later she wouldn't have made it, poor girl. :[
Poor Nick! :[ I can't see how people can just dump their pets. At least he is one of the lucky ones and found a loving family to take him in! We get so many of our rescues this way. I don't blame Nick for having PTSD - I'd probably be very angry, too! :[ It is amazing the transformation they can have once they learn they are safe.
We have a LOT of people out looking for the woman! I was very impressed (and proud) of all the community members that are coming together to catch her!

Aww... I HATE those free craigs list adds! Don't get me wrong I love posting my fosters there. But when people do it just because they don't want their animals pisses me off!

Oh yes! We'll use it to advertise pets that have been with us for far to long and adoption events, but I try to flag every "free" add. People just disgust me so much of the time. :[
