I am only Swedish (not a native German speaker) but Sweden use herr(e) to so I will try to explain.
Herr name can be Mr name, bur Herr name can also be Lord (sir) name, so it both depending on the situation. Germany in the comic using Herr as "Mr" but Prussia using Herr as "Lord"

I am german and what you said is right so far.
But a few years back, around 100 years or so, it was common to call your father Herr Vater or Herr Papa and the mother Frau Mutter or Frau Mama.
Today kids will mostly say Papi/Papa for the father ( calling someone Vati is rather unusual) and for the mother we use to say Mami/Mama ( Mutti is also rather unusual )
As we get older we say Vater or Mutter. It sounds more mature.

Reminds me when my mom tried to make my older sister and me call her Mare (Mother in Catalan) instead of Mama (mom).......... she didn't succes xDDD Old habits never dies... and I think she should make us call her this way from the begging. I remember I didn't want call her that way because I felt like I was not calling her and it made me sad xD
