Looking good!! Do you have a particular colour palette you use when doing skin tones? I always find it really difficult picking out the right colours >_<

Thanks babe! As for a palette, I don't. I feel like saving a palette wouldn't help because skin colors vary so much in different lights, tones, etc. and it's very subtle sometimes. When I work from a picture I try to just rough it out and figure out the colors by eye, without using eyedropper or palette, on purpose just to learn how to pick colors better (actually I found that was one of the hardest things of all when I started trying to paint people, and one of the biggest things that helped me progress so much---I know it doesn't show that much, but I have gotten a lot better!). I think it's helped me a lot though with when I try to paint one of my own characters from memory.
Drawing from a photo is helping me better understand how light works on the face too, so slowly I can keep making progress.. (this is making me want to do another portrait!)

Oh I can definitely understand that! When I started I had the same problem, and I picked photo references similar to your Territory picture, with a stark contrast between white, full light skin and really dark portions in shadows... I never realized color picking was so skillful and work intensive until I tried that haha. Great learning experience!
And thanks hun, I will try to keep it up!
