Description I seem to be stuck on Spirals. While playing with textures this worked itself up.

Hi, Denise

Things were a bit rough for a while...still not totally great, but getting better, at lease financially.

At the moment ReeRee is locked in her room...she was given a bone and proceeded to growl and show her teeth at me when I went to the door to speak with her. So now she is locked in until she gets some manners. I'll take it away from her tonight while she's out, and from now on its no more bones for her. She doesn't need them and I don't need the hassle.

Hey there. I was just hoping that everything was gong ok with you. I'm sorry that things have been tough, but glad that they are getting better especialy financially.

I hope since it's been days since you wrote your comment that ReeRee has realized that her behavior was inappropriate and sufficiently kissed her mommy's bootie. Sometimes bones are good and bad things for our babies to have you know? Just the other night Keiko (the pit), who is an awful counter surfer, pulled a loaf of sweet bread off and got her bootie spanked until she cried. Of course it doesn't take much to make her cry. She came to me about 10 minutes later apologizing. She's so sweet and had such pitiful eyes I let her make up to me........about 30 minutes later. I'm mean.

ArtistInWaiting In reply to Perrinsmommy [2008-04-01 21:26:01 +0000 UTC]

Actually she thought her behavior was appropriate which is why she gets no more bones. If I'd tried to spank her she would have bitten me. I forgot that they gave her food she didn't like in the shelter and she was really hungry when I brought her home. So I think she now has a food "problem". She's fat as butter now, but will eat anything she is offered...she and I were just sharing some grapes. So now I have a different problem...too much food. Tonight she's going to get very little dinner, but we've been snacking all afternoon.

ReeRee didn't really ask to "make up" until the next day, when she realized that I wasn't going to take all her food away. Poor confused dog.

Yea, you don't want to get bit, especially not by your baby and she wouldn't understand why your were upset with her anyway if she did bite you. You knew what you were doing with her. Keiko can be spanked and I'm lucky for some reason and can take food away from her, out of her mouth, and out of her bowl while she's eating. I'm not quite sure why she's so good, but I'm glad she is. I've had a dog like ReeRee about her food but she wasn't a shelter do, there was just something in her that made her food aggressive.

Um, you may not want to give her anymore grapes. Granted a few won't hurt her but in the long term they aren't good for them. This is something I didn't know until after I lost Perrin and since he was such a big grape fan I wondered if I made him a diabetic by giving him too many grapes. Just something to think about. My current pack of wild dogs LOVE carrots. MoeMoe is ridiculous about them and he's not a good eater but he'll always eat carrots. Strange dog.

At least ReeRee made up! That's huge for a dog who has been neglected like her. She must be a sweet little chubby thing and I can say that because I'm a grumpy chubby thing.

I have great reverence for doggy teeth, even little ones! I can spank ReeRee if she gets into mischief, but just don't try it over food. She's normally such a good girl, that this is an area that I will let her have her way. It must be very important to her to be so narly about it.

I don't often give my dogs fruit...once in a blue moon they can have a slice of apple. I was surprised to see she had such a sweet tooth. My first dog, Wiggles, loved Christmas. My Mom made a gumdrop cake at that time of year, and guess who got s few! She was hysterical, they'd get stuck on her back teeth and she made the funniest faces getting them unstuck. Then she'd trot back to the kitchen to see if she could have another one. She was also a major carrot dog. She also loved to pick the tulips in my Mother's garden! Talk about characters!

Yea, having respect for dog teeth is a good thing. I have an even greated respect for kitty teeth. Their's scare me more. ReeRee is a good girl from everything you've said so this is something that really gets to her and if you modifying what you give her does the trick, she probably won't even notice because she's still getting fed and loved every day now.

Never thought about gum drops getting stuck in teeth. I bet that was a sight to see! Made me kinda giggle just thinking about it. Moe is a whore for carrots, Keiko is an expert counter grazer, Charlie & Lillith like kleenex, and Nina well, she'll take pretty much anything you give her. Dogs are amazing creatures. Mmmmm, perhaps just one little gum drop for someone.

I have real respect for kitty claws, but their bite is scary. They don't give you any warnig, just suddenly sink their teeth in your hand. At least the biter I had did, finally got rid of it. I think the put her down, she was so unstable. But Persians are known to bite, at least that was what I was told later.

Yup, one gumdrop...camera in hand!

Perrinsmommy In reply to ArtistInWaiting [2008-04-08 20:45:16 +0000 UTC]

I'll see about the gumdrop and camera with a pup......not sure. May just be something else that's cool to eat. They like peanut butter too and that's always interesting. I'll have a camera whatever it is.

I couldn't have a biter kitty. I'd probably put it down too. Mean cats are really scary 'cause like you said, NO warnings. I got my hand literally chewed up one day at the old hospital because a cat broke out of someone's "unbreakable" hold. Less than an hour later my small hand was the size of an orange. The scars aren't impressive years later, but I still remember everything. Surprising I still love them so very very much.
