Description Number 6 in the Hobbit series of portraits that I am working on...This is Bofur, who I believe is brother of Bombur and cousin of Bifur...From the upcoming Hobbit movie.

Colored pencil on 98 lb. Canson paper, with a bit of white and black Sharpie paint pen in the details.

This took a bit longer than I thought it would because the details in the textures of his outfit were more difficult than I'd thought they'd be. I quite like the suede of his hat. His glove was a pain, as was the sheep's wool lining of his hat. lol.

You are an incredible artist. You captured the textures and the character of every single one of these dwarves. This one could be my favorite I dont know. You should really draw a bunch of characters from rings too. I'd love to see the hobbits and Arwen and Aragorn and Boromir in your amazing style. Β Also your whole style for these drawings (colored pencil on toned paper) is exactly the type of thing I want to get in to.... so thanks for the inspiration.Β

Thank you so much for your kind words. I'm glad that you like my work. If you check out my gallery you will find that I have drawn some of the characters from LOTR. Gimli was actually the first Dwarf that I drew. I've also done Aragorn and Arwen, Gandalf and Saruman, and Galadriel. I will attempt to draw more of the Characters as well once my muse has returned. I don't seem to be inspired to draw lately. PerhapsΒ  your encouragement will help.

I understand you when you say:

The Hobbit character's outfit looked fair simple but it the end the have lots of embroidery and details, some of them intrincate and with complex geometrical patterns, and the wool zones looks painful to paint.

This artwork is masterful, is trully well done, and you achived to paint the character's "soul". Added to favs!

Probably, but no, that wasn't why. He lives in the US so I unfortunately can't hear him snoring (but when he does, yeeeesh). Still waiting on government paperwork for us to be allowed to live together.
