Description
This is my friend =Kate-Chan . She is absolutely gorgeous, so what better subject matter right? I realized mid way into this that i had never really drawn any other ethnicity than caucasian(lol racist much), so this was a fun challenge. Is it just me or are noses really hard to get right, that was the hardest part of the piece. Hope you guys dig, more final fantasy work coming soon.Photoshop CS3: 1 hour

I know what you mean about noses, lol. I don't know, but it seems like they're more 3-dimensional than the rest of the face or something
But this is some really good work. I love how well her dark skin and hair compliments the red background, with those earrings providing just a little relief. Good job, this is a beautiful piece of art.

a really cool change, i like the lighting and i think you did a good job with the skin. I really like the lips and the eyes. I think the hair needed a bit more attention, but this was a speed paint so im not complaining xP

She is gorgeous! You did a wonderful job on painting her. The lighting adds a bit of mystery and darkness to her persona, as does her "Bring it world" facial expression. Her earring's kick major arse.
I've always wondered why artists have trouble drawing outside their own gender and race. It took me years to learn to draw men, and I'm still having a hard time working on people who aren't caucasion. I find it helps to look at pictures of people of different races and countries, and take careful note of their different facial features.

The diffused lighting and highlights of the nose are my favorite part. It looks very painterly, but at the same time you can see your expertise of anatomy.
This reminds me of that famous painting, Girl with the Pearl Earring.
