edit: i decided to take a picture with my camera and play around with it, as it helps preserve some of the drawings quality better than my scanner. :I I'll most likely just do that with my traditional pieces from now on.Scanners are evil. EVIL I SAY. Eating my colors and smoothish burnishing. :c

Okie doke, well anyway, since Monday will be the start of the Year of the Dragon, I used it as an excuse to draw a dragon. c: I spent about half the day coloring it {I'd done the rough sketch yesterday in my free time}. I wanted to do a dawn sky to show the beginning of a new year, and an eastern dragon because it's, well, Chinese. .__.;; No character in particular. Just a random littl-- er, big guy.
I don't do a lot of backgrounds, so I tried to take my time with this one, and it looks sooo much better in person. |D I tried editing a little to make it look better, but it didn't help much. Nonetheless, I hope you enjoy, and happy Chinese New Year! c:

A little hint with how to smooth your coloring is not to burnish it. Like I said on the LS. XD Since you're using colored pencils that don't have a lead that is waxy (like Prismas), burnishing isn not the techique really fit for the medium. Instead, what you should do is color in (reallllly little) tight circles and blend everything that way. It may take a long time (I had to do back in the day too, so I deffinately know), but it will help you achieve a more blended piece.
I do dig the colors though. So happy and waaaarm.
Also, I like the design of its head. Not totally sure why, but the combo and detail there is really nice to look at.~
