Love how well you created a sense of depth in the image, especially in regards to the lovely little details that thereby stand in focus.

Oh gosh I can't believe I've taken so long to comment on this ;u; I've been hoarding it in my message center - I haven't really gotten an opportunity until just now to leave a comment. I didn't want to just leave a lame comment.
Gosh, I don't even know where to start on this one!! First - the colors! I love the colors. You got his markings and color palette perfect! I love the hint of purple in his markings and the green in the shadows to go with that jade background. Those colors just work so well with each other and help his forms pop out of the picture! Especially the shark contrast from highlight to shadow on the mane. It also really helps that you blurred out that wing - it establishes the focus on shin's face and makes it look like we're really up close to him - maybe even riding him.
And gosh, those textures! there are so many textures here. From the feathers, to that spindly, unkempt mane, to those beautifully latered tiny feathers on his wingshoulder, the wrinkles around his eyes and on his neck below his chin, and the tiny scales, wow! What did you use for those scales anyway? I love how tiny they are!
Lastly, the anatomy! His anatomy is just perfect and gorgeous, the muscles in the neck are so great - I just can't get over it. Especially those tiny highlights on the wrinkles. I can also tell there was great care in drawing the face and the eyes! I like the line that connects his eyes to his nostril - and I really like that nostril shape in general.
Gosh anyway, I guess I've gushed all over this thing in every way possible. It's just amazing ;u; It was time for me to stop just stalk-admiring it and say something.

I use for the tiny scales a plain round brush with modified settings
Brush Tip Shape -> Spacing: 130%
Scattering -> Scatter: 900%Β Count: 10
Other Dynamics -> Opacity Jitter Control: Pen Pressure
