...and ShishiHaven't done a chapter picture in some time, sorry about that. Here's a scene from chapter 15 of Love in War, Shifting Favor. Mulan was examining the statue of the Li family guardian, Shishi, while unknown to her, Li Shu watches in the background.
Shishi isn't an OC, he's a canon character from the Disney Twisted Tale, Reflection!!!!Β

I really think Iβm going to keep Li Shuβs name because Iβve already established her that way and recognized as Li Shu by both me and my readers. Maybe sheβs in the same situation as Fa Li.

Well I myself donβt usually consider myself to be mixed, mainly because both my mother and father are Indian, despite my grandmother being originally from Iraq. (Might help that the two countries arenβt that far apart and the people look more or less the same - maybe a bit lighter complected and some blue eyes here and there in her family, but overall)
I do understand that feeling of being lost a bit though. Nothing past one generation before my grandparents on my fatherβs side is really known, and my motherβs side going up is quite confusing as well. Iβm also much more in touch with my motherβs side than my fatherβs because most of them are here, while a majority of my fatherβs side lives in India so Iβve never met them.

Well theyβre really spread out for one. About a third of them are in India, a third here, and a third in Canada.
Thereβs also quite a disconnect per se between the ones who came here in the 70s (my mom and her brothers) and the ones who came later in the way they act and adjust. Even more so between the different generations - for example my momβs and her brotherβs kids (my siblings and my first cousins) were never taught Punjabi, and all our little cousins are bilingual.
Weβre also sort of in our own name in a way because their last name was spelled wrong when they originally came here. Some birthdays are off too, but not the biggest deal I suppose.
