Description First off, this is not the kind of cat I would want living with me, sure it probably would be great to keep away rats and other evil little thing, but come on, a kitty like this would probably need its own…..cow…every day….

Yeah, anyway, the photo…this tiger was very photogenic, I got several shots of him, and this has to be one of the classics in the set because…well, you can see for yourself, that’s a lot of tongue!

I have four of them!

Well, not them exactly.

Can you imagine being licked by a tiger? That would really be like sandpaper!

oh dear...for some reason whenever I take a photo of a tiger or lion their tounges are sticking out, and if its anything worse then my last cat then I wouldnt have much skin left

Bad news: the kitty, whos photo I linked to you some time ago, died early this month on pancreas-cancer, Good news: after whole lotta fuss and scrumble I'm getting a new kitty pretty soon. Want to see a photo? ;D

This picture is amazing. I just want to know how you got such a good shot, were you at a zoo with a real good zoom lense or do they just walk around the streets in China? heh. All of your pictures, especially the animal ones, seem to leap of the computer! You should really sell these, id love to buy one of your pictures someday!

I shamelessly took this photo at a zoo, thats about the only time I coudl take a picture of a tiger like this without it trying to eat me. I did zoom in a long ways on this, which is sort of why it looks a little flat, but sometimes when your instincts tell you not to get near thing animale with teath longer then your foot, you dont

I hope you used a telephoto. I would not want to get that close to that mouth. But I think the somewhat flat composition works. There is only a limited number of tones, and the different textures are well defined. And my eye went immediately to where it was supposed too. great timing, great capture. I approve.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

avotius In reply to wingedwonder [2004-05-10 09:39:32 +0000 UTC]

telephoto...well...no, I was about a meter away from it or less, and a few shots I actualy took macros of this eyes....meaning I was within a few inches of him, probably why he was so curious of me. Im nuts, it kinda goes with being an ambishous photographer

As for the flat composition, I looked back to make sure, I shot this at 1000 speed and f8 so it doesnt have the perspective that many of my shots do since I usualy shoot at f2. It was just a damn sunny night out....

But yeah, thanks thanks, I was pretty happy with how this photo drags your eye, all the lines kinda work well with eachother

wingedwonder In reply to avotius [2004-05-10 19:53:31 +0000 UTC]

A few inches!!! As long as he wasn't hungry. But yeah the stripes of his face or conveniently pointed and angle inward so it just draws your eye right to the center. And as far as the fstop goes we are all at the mercy of nature right? Damn sunshine. Again a fabulous shot.

syntheticdreamer [2004-05-06 09:11:22 +0000 UTC]

Brilliant
A lot of tongue? Is that an understatement

Perfectly captured, such a poser isn't he
Not everyday you see a photo of this precision, not everday you see a tiger sticking it's tongue out

Black and white again a great choice, if it was to be in colour the detail of the tiger and of it's stripes would detract a little from what you are showing, the black and white neutralises this all.
