Description Active Sketch 05 - Planets by axcho on April 10, 2011

This is my fifth Active Sketch, a doodle in code. I made this to test out an idea my coworker suggested for indirect control through gravity wells.

I know it's been a long time since my last one. I've made a number of other prototypes and experiments throughout the past year or so, but nothing worth sharing as an Active Sketch. Until now.

I used the Flixel engine to build this prototype.

Click the window to start, then click to add new planets and use the mouse to drag them around. If you drag a planet off the screen, it will disappear.

The face will be attracted to the planets as if by gravitational acceleration. I've also added a bit of air resistance, which makes it less like movement in outer space, but I think it feels better this way. Chaos theory!
