I think you did well with the colors, but I don't like how the rose nearly takes up the whole thing.

This is very pretty, I like how the colours kind of melt into each other and your incorporation of the elaves as background.

For
First of all, given that you did this without a reference, itβs quite a good attempt. There are, however, some things that you might want to think about in future.
First, the final image is rather two-dimensional. Although you have used multiple colours, the tones are actually very similar. Unfortunately, the different hues do not translate into variety of tone and has created an outline effect rather than shadow. You need to introduce much darker tones β deeper reds down to very dark purples or deeper browns (depending on whether your rose petals are pink or cream) β in the areas that are currently pink to create shadows where the petals overlap and at their bases.
Second, the angle of viewing is not uniform across the flower. The middle of the rose is pointing away from the viewer, whereas the outer edge is viewed directly from above all the way around.
Third, some of the petals are rather pointed. This shape generally arises in roses where the curl back of the petals is quite severe or because of the angle of view. In this image, though, most of the petals do not curl (and, in fact, should probably do so more), and the view is from above, so the bigger petals should be flatter along the top.
Finally, Iβm not sure whether the green in the background is supposed to be leaves but, if so, I think they are too large in relation to the flower head. Also, again, you need to create deeper shadows that would be cast by the flower head.
Itβs always good to try to draw things without reference, but references are a useful means to studying form. Roses are complex flowers and I do think in this case youβll benefit trying again with a reference.

For the critique club!
Its nice. It has an abstracted feel to it. Like, its a rose, but its not a rose, I guess? But, I wish you *had* looked at a reference photo for it. Would have added an extra layer of intricacy and detail to this sweet watercolor drawing. Never be afraid of referencing, its how we learn to draw.
The middle of the rose is at a different angle from the rest of the rose. It feels like the center is being tugged upwards by a piece of invisible string.
Also, I'd keep away from outlining too much in watercolors, esp if you're going for a realistic feel. It makes it look too two dimensional when there are outlines involved. a more gradual shading would have worked better, while still allowing the viewer to pick apart all the petals of the rose.

The colors on this are blended nicely. The shape on some of the petals seems too pointed though - I know each rose is unique and no two petals will be shaped the same, but I still think there should be a little more consistency within one rose. Good work though! I can't work with watercolors so kudos to you!

This was done in watercolor? Wow, the lines are really solid for watercolor, and I love the combination of cream and pink.
