Description This isn't mine, I just thought him up. This excellent piece of art was made by and all faves should go to her.

He's my Warrior hopeful for ~Keyblade-Warriors , I hope I get in. Bit of an edit, I got in.

Name: Gale Reynard

Ability: Justice

Weapon Name: Harsh Justice

Age: Twenty Seven

World: Radiant Garden

Justice (Sometimes called Judgement): Justice is actually a rather tricky power, and using it too much too fast could potentially lead to Gale's death. It is an ability that increases Gale's power based on how much damage he receives in battle, and the effects only last as long as he is wounded. Justice works by increasing Gale's strength, speed and physical toughness in proportion to the amount of wounds that he has. The more he is wounded, the stronger he is and the more wounds he can take. This is so that he can more properly attain justice upon those that injured him. It does nothing to decrease pain or heal wounds, and if a certain part of his body is wounded to the point of not being useable, like say he dislocated his shoulder, he won't be able to use it even though his body over all has become more physically capable. This power only lasts as long as he is wounded, and stops working when he is healed in proportion to the amount that he recovers. This applies inside of a battle situation as well. So it's a power that has to be used carefully or strategically. If he just tries to coast on it he'll die. Unlike most, who get weaker as they get injured, Gale actually gets stronger, but because of the risks involved Gale usually tries to avoid using it if at all possible.

Gale is fairly antisocial. He just doesn't know how to connect or interact with people very well, and typically prefers his own company rather than that of others. Because of this, he's been mistaken for being rude and grumpy on more then one occasion. The fact that he's so serious all the time doesn't help his case. But in truth, he does care about his comrades. His seriousness is usually broken by the times he writes in his journal, in which he's writing either poetry or short stories. There are also a few people whom he is closer with, and his normal stony demeanor softens a bit when interacting with them.

He views the Heartless like rabid animals that need to be put down for a more stable balance in the universe. He views Nobody's with suspicion but also pity, the unfortunate leftovers of the Heartless. He has little patience for the Organization, however, and detests their actions.

Gale has something of an absolutist view of the universe, believing that some things are wrong no matter what the perspective. This is due in large part to the murder of a family member whom he was very close to. He has recently found that he is enjoying the act of combat, falling into a bit of a berserkers rhythm, and sometimes on very rare occasions actually going berserk. This usually happens when he experiences pain far above his tolerance level and his rational mind blacks out. He's speculated that this may be due to either survivors guilt for the family member or that he has always had a joy for combat and merely did not recognize it when he was younger. He's not sure which scenario disturbs him more, and is still trying to rationalize which may actually be the case.

Indeed, though depending on how long it has been in the overarching story of Keyblade Warriors he might be even older.

I really need to get back to writing stuff for him, but I'm also writing a book and that makes it kind of difficult. Gonna try my best, though.

Hmmm... interesting. Because Kenya turns 20 this year, and I wanted to include Gale in the latest event (or my depiction of it anyways).

Would you object horribly if they danced? I'm just curious as to how he would act in that situation. Would he be a gentlemen? Is he interested in flirting/that sort of thing at all? Or is he solely set on his own mission?

And good luck with your book!

Azure321 In reply to Wheatart [2013-01-29 23:58:21 +0000 UTC]

Gale does know how to dance, and he's not uncomfortable with it. He'd be gentlemanly. As for flirting, he's actually never given romance much thought at all. It's not that he's averse to the idea, it's just that he's indeed really focussed on the mission. And, deep down, a very bitter part of himself believes he'll likely die within the next ten years anyway as the campaign against the Heartless continue. So flirting would flummox him, and he really wouldn't know how to handle it and feel kind of awkward.

Thanks. I appreciate it.

Hmmm... okay.
I have some ideas, so I just wanted to put them in the best light without messing up characterization.
But now some ideas are lodging firmly in my head, haha.

I appreciate your concern. Characterization can be a tricky thing. I guess if I had to sum it up in a few words, it's that Gale gives the impression of being sturdy and complete when he really isn't. He's stoic, but deep down he's quite troubled. He's got his own issues, like survivor's guilt, is a little world weary and should probably put more value on his own life than he actually does.

And the biggest problem is that he really doesn't want to talk with people about any of this, beyond perhaps a few small portions of it here and there. Hope that helps with some of his characterization. I look forward to seeing what you make.

Aren't we all fragile on the inside? But it's interesting that you mention how he doesn't like to talk about his worries.
He probably should value his life more though, I agree.

And thanks!

Azure321 In reply to Wheatart [2013-01-30 06:28:54 +0000 UTC]

Indeed, only Gale thinks he should be less fragile. Gale thinks he has to be strong, has to fight, because if he doesn't then everyone else who has died would have died in vain. His life only has meaning in the struggle against the Heartless. It's the only way he can justify why he's still alive after so many people have died. So, yeah, he doesn't value his life as much as he should. He think's his life only has meaning as a shield to protect everyone from what he's gone through.

Not like he actually ever tells anyone this. Kyde would know most of it, but not everything. He keeps it all fairly close.

Again, really looking forward to whatever you create. It will undoubtably be awesome.

Maan, if he was any less fragile, he'd be a diamond or adimantium! XD
But that point of view makes sense too.

I can't remember, did you post his story of meeting Kyde at all?

Azure321 In reply to Wheatart [2013-01-30 07:23:01 +0000 UTC]

Oh, it's a very understandable motivation. the problem is that Gale has limits, and if he keeps pushing them too much he's going to kill himself. The person who will be the death of him in the end is almost assuredly going to be himself, one way or another.

I've not written their meeting, since Gale has been around for about two versions of this group's existence. I guess I'll have to write that up some day.

Yikes! Well, maybe these guys can keep him on the right track. I know Ham looks up to him!

Hmmm, good point. I joined the old group right before they revamped, but it also gave me a chance to revamp Kenya, which was a blessing.

Azure321 In reply to Wheatart [2013-01-30 17:58:20 +0000 UTC]

Hopefully. Gale's not entirely sure how to handle that kind of respect, but he doesn't find it unnerving or anything like that.

Yeah, I'll have to get around to writing their meeting some day. Too many things going on right now.

Totally understandable!

Kenya: Gale is antisocial? He seemed social to me. In a pride of lions, the new lion doesn't make friends until they prove themselves. Interesting, these human mannerisms.

Azure321 In reply to Wheatart [2010-08-08 02:04:03 +0000 UTC]

Me: He'll introduce himself and try to understand the strengths of his allies to better understand their combat capability. But his past, how he's feeling, his issues, all these he typically keeps to himself. He's really rather terse and blunt, most of the time. He's also pretty uncomfortable with the fact that so many young people are joining the war. He has a hard time really talking for extended periods of time, an it takes effort to really get to know him.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Wheatart In reply to Azure321 [2010-08-08 08:03:21 +0000 UTC]

Ahhh, interesting. Kenya probably seems a little young, but considering lions can only live into their 20s through captivity (normally like 13 or so) she's quite grown up, even for a young human. Years influence her a lot more.
Well, I have a plan for the favorite world piece, so you might see more art.

Beng91 In reply to Azure321 [2008-07-06 07:45:30 +0000 UTC]

yes probably gonna get targrted by him since I'm such a miserably existence or something because I half heartless half human
at least that's what Gale would say

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Azure321 In reply to Beng91 [2008-07-06 09:23:41 +0000 UTC]

He's a bit more understanding than that. He'd think the human would win over, eventually. He has to believe that, because if he doesn't than his fight against his own problem is destined to fail. He can't believe in predestination, he has to believe in the human will. Because if he doesn't, he will become nothing more than a beast of light, going forth to devour all darkness and evil before finally destroying himself. That's what his berserk rages are, essentially, when his rational mind blanks out from overwhelming and excruciating pain. He doesn't believe in self sacrifice, in giving up. He thinks it is an insult to humanity.

If the Heartless ever took over your character, Gale would hunt him as a mercy to the man he was, not the Heartless he became.

Beng91 In reply to Azure321 [2008-07-06 20:46:19 +0000 UTC]

hm.. it would seam I've misinterpret his Justice
but still he will give out the wrong Idea about himself
Judging from the way he operates he's not the type how would explain why he's attacking someone causing him to probably look lick a bad guy when his not

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Azure321 In reply to Beng91 [2008-07-06 23:01:20 +0000 UTC]

True. He wouldn't feel a need to be particularly talkative in battle unless using it as a distraction.

I'm not sure Gale would be applicable. I've considered it, but I've basically dithered about the idea without doing much with it.

Greetings! It's nice to meet you, I really hope you get in. Gale is from what I've heard and read he's a person I'd like to be friends with. ^ ^ I got to watch draw/color this. I hope to roleplay with you at some point too. But I typo alot too. D: Anyways, I wish you luck! And I am 97.8% sure you will.

That would be cool. It might be an interesting running gag that Gale knows Ailill's sister but doesn't know that she's Ailill's sister.

That or he could cross paths with your Nobody character a few times. Yeah, there would be a bit of clashing there.
