Description A quick deviation post before I get some sleep...

Still working on that lineart from my scrapbook. I was pasting the KI lineart into the full lineart (the KI was so detailed I had to blow it up and ink it on its own canvas) and this lovely display of intricacy showed up, and it looked so awesome that I took a screenshot and added a border and up it goes.

This was almost a scrap, but then I thought, hey, I spent some good time on that KI lineart, and it's never gonna be properly seen again, so this gets the deviation seal of approval for now.

The caption is the D'ni word Ilais, which means to power up or to charge. I am pitifully obsessed with the Myst series lately. That's why this is in the fanart section. All credit -> where it's due.

I like this design. Forgive my ignorance, but what is that thing over her hand?

It's a KI. :3 See Article: [link]

It was used for communication, personal identification, and as a sort of underground GPS device.

Thanks so much for all of your comments. You rock. Out loud.

That's really pretty.. it's amazing how much detail an apparently simple KI can have. ^_^ I'll add this to the group favorites whenever I log into dniviants next.. thanks for posting it there so we can see it. ^_^

Yipers. One of my upcoming works could really use a design just like that for the backdrop. That would equate to spending a whole day in Macromedia Flash for me. I dun' suppose you know a quicker way to create that marvelous collection of lines up there? ^^

Not really... but from a composition point of view, I think you essentially take one orderly, measured set of shapes (the circular pattern in the foreground) and paste them on top of a set or two of chaotic, unmeasured shapes (the hands in the background, and the sketch, which gives a lot of volume to this picture)

Wonderfully inked, and you said you hated it, well you are good at it too... O.o
