"Olatunde! Come on Son. We're almost home!"
Mwitu's strong voice made the teenager's ears twitch and he rolled his eyes. "Why is this home, compared to the other lands we've roamed?"
Mwitu lightly cuffed his son, grinning. "This is my home pride, the Pridelands. We're staying here. My sister -your Aunt Nala- is queen here, we'll be welcome. Come on, Son! Race you!"

Together they ran, laughing freely. Olatunde had not seen his father so free and happy since they began their journey across the vast expanse of territories, but he understood why when they crossed large boulders with paw prints making the edge of a land.

He'd never seen something so incredible, a land so green and lush. He froze in his step, and eyes widened as a tawny lioness approached, accompanied by a dark furred lioness heavily scarred. He slid out his claws, pausing when he took in his father's large smile.

"Nala! Nadra!" His father launched himself at the females, and they rolled down a hill together, stopping at the bottom as their laughter bounced off the rocks. The tawny one stood, making her way to Olatunde, who met them at the bottom of the hill. "Same Mwitu. Mentality of a cub."

"Hey, watch it!" Mwitu protested, and the lioness ignored him, choosing to flick her tail encouragingly at the teenager.

"You must be Olatunde. Our messenger birds said my baby brother had a son. It's lovely to meet you. I'm your Aunt Nala, and this is your Aunt Nadra."

"Technically, I'm your second cousin. But we were raised like siblings, so Aunt is good enough for me, kiddo. Come, I'm sure you boys are hungry."

Together the four walked in, and Nala was updating them on what they could expect of their new life. "My kids, Kion and Kiara, are around here somewhere. They're a few years younger than you. Kion's mane is only starting to get volume, and Kiara's starting to hunt more successfully."

"Mom! Look!"

"Speaking of…" Nala murmured, eyes scouting and finding her two cubs running her way.

"She only caught the mouse because Fuli got her paw stuck in a mouse hole and they couldn't all escape fast enough. It smothered, it wasn't caught." Kion snorted, but Kiara growled.
"You're just mad because at least my skills are useful. What do you do again, 'protector of the Pridelands'? Pfft! I feel safer around Timon!"

"Children. We have guests. Kindly shelve your squabbles for later."

Nala's gentle rebuke gave her children pause and the two quickly introduced themselves. Mwitu's brow furrowed. "Just… the two? I know I haven't had an update on your land for some time. Didn't you have…"

"We had a brother, but he completed his circle when we were babies." Kiara said quickly, putting a paw on her mother's paw for comfort. Nala winced at the memory of her little Kopa, but she nodded.

"Just the two now. Simba and I decided one litter was enough."

Mwitu brushed his sisters forehead. "Samahani, sister."

"Thank you, Mwitu." A lengthy silence, then: "So, you both are staying, then?"

"Nowhere we would rather be, Nala. I want Olatunde to grow up with his cousins like we did. Close as siblings. After all, family is everything."

Nala and Nadra quickly agreed, settling to watch the cubs play and get to know each other.

Samahani is Swahili for "I'm sorry"

Originally, Nala and Simba had triplets but Kopa died not long after his coronation. Thus, Kiara became the future queen. Kiara and Kion are quick to correct anybody who calls them twins, as they always wonder about the brother they once shared. They try to make sure he is never forgotten, as they know he's watching over them even still.
why? Because most who have suffered infant and childloss struggle with not knowing how to talk about their child. We're not doing that here.
