Description GaranMad kindly commissioned me for a picture of the main character from HIS comic; Contract. I urge you to check it out 'cos it's really good. Visit the link above, go to the gallery and check out the short stories!

Jessie is a futuristic, ultra hot, cowgirl mercenary and along with her partners Tsumi and Panzer, raise merry hell (and lots of laughs) whilst collecting bounty across the Helios star system.

The picture is literally, black fineliner and marker onto A4 bristol board.

Fantastic perspective! I have a hard time with perspective - many do. We could all learn from this.

Great job.

Thanks man, that's very kind. I can't take the credit for the perspective though really, as I'd found an awesome reference picture to work from. That's not to do myself a disservice, I still had to draw the entire thing but it's always good to have reference so that you know the perspectives working etc!

Thanks again dude!

Thanks Mohz, yeah, the contrast between the black and white worked out well. I've not adjusted it on photoshop either! That's the original scan, the bristol board is pure white and the ink stands out really sweet against it. The only bummer is that it's easy smudge the ink as it takes a minute to soak in.

Thanks for the fave to btw, Cheers!

Cheers Dwight, I found this awesome reference pic and thought, that'd be a really good pose for this commish and managed to tailor it into a cowgirl. I definitely needed the reference for that pose because generally, my fore-shortening's a little weak. Getting there though, practice makes perfect!

Thanks for the fave on this one too!

Thanks dude, trust me, I always use reference pics, it's the best way to make sure that you're getting the foreshortening etc, right. Certainly don't feel bad about it!

Cheers my friend, yeah, 'cos I knew it was gonna be a black and white piece I went to town on the inks, I don't really ink that much and it was really good practice. I had a sweet photo to help me with the foreshortening though.

Thanks for the great work manz.
In fact, I threw some quick colors on it today to de-stress after battling with my website. Check it out when you have a chance.

add my voice to the chorus praising the perspective and foreshortening!

seeing this perspective done so well gives me another idea for an Olga commission. But, I just got a commission from you, I should give other customers a chance.

Thanks Shagster, and thanks for the generous promo on your journal entry, very kind of you.

Can't take credit for all the foreshortening, I found an awesome reference pic which gave me the basis for it which I thought would make it look pretty dynamic, rather than a straight up body shot.

You know me, I'm always willing to take on work. I might not be able to get it done so soon though as I've got a lot of non DA related stuff coming up too, which is cool (but I prefer the DA stuff)

No problem on the Journal promotion. Always like to give the people I hire for commissions due credit.

As to future commission work, this pic, with the low angle shot and the nice perspective work reminds me that I don't have enough pics of the Olga Svensen character with low angle or bug's eye perspective, to show her size relative to the viewer.

Now, since apparently you can work well from ref pics when it comes to foreshortening, I just need to find a good ref pic....

Thanks dude, very kind. I suck at foreshortening too but I had a good reference picture to help guide me on this one. I can't stress enough how useful it is to use reference pics! I stockpile 'em and then scour them when I need help coming up with a dynamic pose.

Thanks for faving the pic, cheers!
