Fiery Dawn 10

Taurus woke. His body screamed in protest as he rose from the bed. he looked down at himself. the medics had done an admirable job healing him. the chakra burns were still there, but were healing rapidly. He smiled. His training all those years ago made his constitution above that of a normal human.
He was healing already, not even a day had passed. Only the burns were showing and the medics had healed the majority of them. A few fractures were the only actual problem. He’d heal quickly, but a broken arm would take time.
Still, he could do a few things. He looked down at the side table and saw a note, meant for him. he scooped it up and read aloud.
“Taurus-san, when you feel you are recovered please report to my office. I have a task that will not require peak performance. I hope to see you soon, Sixth.”
Taurus grunted; no rest for the wicked. Sakura wouldn’t be happy, but she couldn’t ignore an order from the Hokage. He just pitied anyone tempted to make a similar break for it without a similar excuse.

“So, that means we’re redundant then.” Tekkan said thoughtfully.
“Effectively, yes. I can’t take you out on missions until Kimi has recovered fully, and there are a few things the Hokage has asked me to do.” Taurus said to the two boys in front of him. “And remember, I expect you to keep training for all the time we would have spent on missions.” He added.
“I was planning that anyway!” Naruki said explosively, obviously happy to have a break from missions that didn’t give him anything resembling experience. Naruki watched as their sensei disappeared in a puff of leaves.
“You know, the leaves really weren’t necessary that time.” Tekkan noted.
“Still, it looks cool.” Naruki said, “So, what now?”
“I think we should do some training with our bloodline limits.” Tekkan said offhandedly.
“if your implying what I think you are, my Byakugan sees in black, white and blue, so it isn’t very interesting.” Naruki told his team-mate, his voice stern yet it sounded truly disappointed.
“I actually meant I could teach you some of the awesome new moves I picked up.” he told the blonde boy.
“When the hell did you pick up new moves?!” Naruki choked.
“In that last mission…”
“You’re just saying that to show off aren’t you?”
“Well, if you don’t want to know how to be invisible, be undamaged by Kunai and throw chakra balls, fine by me.” Tekkan said, rising to his feet and walking off, hands in pockets.
“Wait a sec! I never said that!” he called, running after the Sharigan user.

“Yuudai-Kun! Please, return to your bed!” the medic called after him. He recognized her, everyone did. The apprentice of the fifth Hokage, Sakura-Sama. The mother of one of the ninja that had accompanied him on his latest mission.
“Sakura-Sama, I’m fine. My exhaustion is over; my body is in perfect condition. I’ve done this plenty of times in training and I’ve always been fine the day after.” He told her, keeping his voice as polite as he possibly could. It wasn’t smart to argue over his medical heath with the best non-retired healer in the village.
“That’s not possible! Baka!” she told at him. This was precisely why he’d attempted to sneak out, she was angry that he was second guessing her. An angry Sakura was something to be scared of. He took a step back; he had no wish to be too close to the healer when she was angry.
“Please, Sakura-Sama, I really am fine. I and my father do this all the time. We can recover from opening chakra gates quickly, ask any of his students!” he said, desperately trying to reason with the advancing medic. He, however, miscalculated one thing.
No one had told her about his learning about chakra gates.
“You did WHAT!” she nearly screamed at him. Yuudai, caution now becoming the better part of valor, bolted. He spun and headed for the nearest window, which was luckily at the end of the corridor, opened it and leaped out. Being on the fifth floor of the hospital gave him enough room to open his wings before he hit the floor.
He could still hear her calling him as he soared upwards. He rebuked himself for his lack of charity, but he really hoped Lee of his father got injured and made a similar escape… if not, his next visit to the hospital was going to hurt.

“So, how do you do it?” the boy asked. Tekkan tried to put the words the right way, but it seemed really difficult.
“Well… imagine light as lines that just bounce off of everything… then have your chakra bend the lines around you instead of bouncing off.”  He told his team-mate, “does that make any sense?” he added.
“Sure, so what are the seals for it?” the boy asked, literally shaking with excitement.
“Tiger, Dog, Hawk and dragon.” Tekkan told him. The boy watched as his friend concentrated. The blonde boy formed the seals and braced. True to style, nothing happened. Tekkan sighed; Naruki was just no good at it. “You’ve got no talent, you know that?” he said.
“You try it then!” he challenged the Uchiha.
“fine.” He said, his hands moving in a blur as the four seal were formed with ease. He felt his chakra start to bend the light, but then he lost it. he saw his hand become partially see through, before he lost it.
“Ha! See! You have no talent!” his team-mate yelled at him.
“So? At least my hand flickered! You couldn’t even do that!” he fumed.
“You’re the one with the Sharigan!” Naruki said. Tekkan made a rude gesture at him, knowing his argument was lost. He wasn’t about to admit his bloodline limit had weakness.
“okay, let’s try the chakra ball… its not spread over an area, so it should be easier…” he said. The chakra balls didn’t need seals, but from what his Sharigan had seen they required concentration to keep them going and even more to keep them on target.
He tried remembering how that ninja had done it. he’d gathered the chakra in his hand, then he’d spun it as fast as possible in a clockwise direction. Tekkan tried it. it spun, faster and faster. He could actually see it forming in his hand. then he let it loose. It fizzled out in the air.
Naruki laughed. Tekkan didn’t even want to attempt the other technique he’d copied. That looked the hardest. He’d have to fix his chakra into his skin cells, and then have it flow constantly between them. That would require some substantial concentration.
“Naruki-kun…” a voice sounded. Tekkan spun to see his father standing there in his usual blue outfit. “Your father wants to see you.” He said. Tekkan never got it. His father was warm, generous and kind to him, his siblings and Sakura. But that was it.
He seemed cold and indifferent to everyone else. Including Naruki. Tekkan wondered what had made him like that, only able to show what he was really like to his family.

Naruto leaned back in his chair. Hiashi troubled him more than he cared to admit. Protesting that his children should have the caged bird seal and then taking one for training. It was confusing more than anything. He seemed sincere about it, which had a ring of truth despite the context, and the fact he just happened to pick the one child that resembled him the least.
Still, if his intentions were different from those he stated, he’d have a lot to worry about. Taurus was watching both of them 24/7, using a shadow clone when necessary. If Hiashi made the wrong move, Taurus was ordered to get his son away from Hiashi through any means necessary.
Somehow, Naruto couldn’t see Hiashi being that stupid but he couldn’t be sure.
The door opened, slowly, and a head popped around it. Naruto smiled at the familiar face. The face he’d first looked into those long years ago in the hospital. The pale eyes, the blonde hair. The whisker marks only he had inherited.
“Hello, father,” The boy said.
“Yo, come in, come in!” Naruto told him. The boy stepped in, and saw his little brother looking out of the window. Naruto saw a mischievous look cross his first son’s eyes that held nothing but childish malice. Naruto coughed, bringing his first son up short before he could contemplate any mischief involving his younger sibling.

“Now,” he started. Naruki wanted to get back to training, but he was sure his father had a perfectly good reason for calling them here. “I’m going to let you two in on a secret, one that you’re to keep completely secret. No-one knows aside from us, clear?” he asked.
Naruki nodded, as did his little brother. He could see that Kanaye had started paying attention the moment the word secret left father’s lips. “You two, soon, may start being able to do things other can’t. like sudden bursts of power, strange chakra, regeneration… things like that. When this happens, let it. its completely natural.” He told them.
“Also,” he continued. “If you start hearing things, like whispers or voices, ignore it and come straight to me… this goes for things that could be just like a rustling sound you can hear in your head. If that happens, tell me, okay?” he finished.
“Like you?” Kanaye said quietly. Naruki looked at him, and noticed father was too. The silence portrayed their inquisitiveness better than any words, so the boy continued. “I’ve seen you, occasionally, with a strange kind of chakra flowing. It’s red instead of blue… is that the kind of chakra you were talking about?” he asked.
“Exactly the kind I’m talking about.” Naruto answered.
“So you hear voices too?” Kanaye asked.
“Too?” Naruki added as a question to his little brother.
-like this.- Naruki stopped dead. All of his movement ceased as his face fixed itself with a horrified look. He heard it as clear as day. He tried focusing on the voice as it rung in his memory, but it faded, as if it had never been heard.
But he had definitely heard it.
“Nii-san has just heard it.” Kanaye said quietly.

“Nii-san!” she cried out, pleading. He ignored her. She always pestered him, and he had to master this. It was too cool for it to slip away. It also seemed a good compliment to his Taijutsu and the Genjutsu he’d copied and practiced from Taurus-sensei.
So he abandoned his current try at the chakra ball and turned his attention to practicing his Genjutsu. He focused on his little sister and let his chakra seep into her. He smiled as she turned around the way she had come. He smiled. To her it looked as if she were still heading to the tree he was perched in. he almost pitied Akina.
She couldn’t use Genjutsu, he remembered fathers and mothers attempts at trying to get her to do it, even remotely, but she’d not even managed the most basic ones. She was good with Ninjutsu and she’d even managed to wake the Sharingan as early as he had. Her favorite thing, however, was Taijutsu.
That was the fault of Rock Lee. She’d seen him practicing and tried copying him. he’d seen her attempt and encouraged her, even teaching her a few things. Tekkan sighed, his sister learning was a good thing, but if he ever caught her in spandex he was going straight to father.
“Ninja techniques aren’t for use on family members.” A cold voice said from above him. His head snapped up to see his father. He swore under his breath. That was one of the taboos of the Uchiha, never use techniques on family. His father really got angry if anyone did it.
“But she was going to interrupt my training! And I really need to get this finished!” he protested.
“Then you should have found a more hidden place then the garden, Tekkan. Next time go to the training grounds. Now, for the next week, whenever you’re not doing something either I or your mother has told you to do; you’re to remain in your room. Go.” He said coldly.
Tekkan hopped down from the tree. Wow, this next week was going to be really boring. He smiled; a week in his room didn’t necessarily forbid him for training. His father hadn’t forbid it, so he would do it.
Even if it messed up his room.

“We failed. This is getting more irritating. I didn’t expect those three to show up.” the grim voice echoed through the cave.
“One of their Genin is also incredibly strong. I had trouble with the flying one. He can block our techniques.” She told her master.
“Next time we don’t give them a chance to react. Next time we don’t reveal our presence. At all.” He told her. “Our job is to capture one of the Hokages children, and I want to settle things with Taurus. I think we may need to lower our standards a little bit.”
“What do you mean, master?” she asked.
“We infiltrate Konoha… security around the village has always been its weak point. When we are inside, you are to find and capture any of the Hokage’s children. I suggest aiming for the weakest, but any will suffice. Capture of Naruki-kun will grant you much honor.” His voice drifted to her. It always seemed to get quieter as he got more excited.
“What will you do? Master?” She asked.
“I will find Taurus, and finish him quietly. It is only fitting he should fade into the night without a sound as he has done all his life.” He chuckled. “we leave tomorrow. Prepare for the hunt, remember not to reveal yourself. To be exposed is death or failure.” He said darkly.
“Hai… Yajuta-Sama.”
