Description Though he was never called anything in the first Ghostbusters movie (the script refers to him as Onionhead) thanks to the massive popularity of the Real Ghostbusters cartoon, Slimer--the lovable green ghost who was the reason for the Ghostbusters first call at the Sedgewick Hotel--has become as intertwined in the franchise as much as other elements of the movie's iconography. That the character is set to make an appearance in new reboot movie in July is also proof positive of his enduring popularity, as he is one of the few ties to the original that was carried over with a warm callback to the past.

The photo itself was shot in celebration of the fact that the original Ghostbusters was released this week in 1984, so it was my submission for June 8 (the official worldwide release date of the movie) as part of the "Ghostbusters Day" celebrations. Utilizing the slime/goo method I'd applied earlier with another GB picture, I think I was able to take my own advice and scaled back on how much slop to add so that it would over power the picture, and with the usual tangible methods (that's a green finger light off camera helping to illuminate Slimer) I was able to conjure up this image.

Exactly how much of the sets and backgrounds do you make yourself and how much is available parts? I always wished I had elaborate sets for my toys as a kid

Probably about 40% scratch built with the majority being available paces and parts wedged together to make something neat. I don't have the time I'd like to to build some elaborate stuff so I kind of just use my imagination with stuff, flipping over something here to pretend that its something else.

It always impresses me looking at the kind of range of accessories and sets some toys have

I try and scourge through a lot of bargain bins at conventions to get a bunch of accessories. A lot of cheap toys from twenty thirty years ago also came with some great stuff that can be easily had.

I don't even try for vintage stuff, I can do without paying $5 on eBay for a Kenner lightsaber. The only old figures I would want are the original Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles

Thank you! It was an idea I'd had planned in a couple different stages over a couple weeks, it changed somewhat but I always knew I wanted to feature Slimer somehow.

Thanks again!

I've kept it in the refrigerator since the last time I've used it. It took a little bit for its malleability to come back but once it warmed up and the moisture came back it was easier to work with than the last time.

great pic!
Can I just ask, is that the action figures of Martha Jones and Amy from Doctor Who in the background?!

Indeed it is sir!

The Who figure line make great "civilian" types, especially for movie scene recreations. Can imagine Freema Agyman and Karen Gillian just being "on set" for a scene with Slimer ehehe
