This is a fantastic piece. I love the solidity of the character (and especially the black speech bubble) against the background of clouds. This is just awesome, and I also like that you took a photo of the painting against a wall, the wall adds to the quality of the piece. Great job.

Super swell. This is the best one so far.
I love the pale, flowing background and the super clean character. Not to mention the speech bubble, for some reason, looks absolutely awesome.

This one is really awesome and unique, I REALLY like it. I love the colours, the lines are awesome, the contrast between the background and the flatness in the foreground looks really cool, and damn it I love the black speech bubbles... I think they're really clever. I like how your figures are starting to look less human and more like a distinct creature of your own invention...

ummm yes, it's very very good!

I'm a big fan of the black bubble. hurts to look at... Makes it seem like he's got something really bold to say... might not be much but it's powerful, frightening even.
nice tocuh as well with the complimentary colors in the background.
inspiring work. keep it up.

oooh very nice comp. flows really well. like how the black bubble is dead center. what exactly is a paint marker?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Beaston In reply to anklesnsocks [2005-04-21 00:42:47 +0000 UTC]

thanks.

a paint marker is amarker that is filler with paint instead of ink, it flows super smooth and is great for dong line work on paintings like the ones i do.. its a cheap substitute for brushing black lines over your colours.

theyre also great for tagging up busses and buildings

im looking at different markers right now, and im wondering which ones you use? oil or poster? what size? whats a good brand?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Beaston In reply to anklesnsocks [2005-04-23 03:48:53 +0000 UTC]

i use zig paintmarkers... but i'm sick of them now. i hate using markers.

i find that when im painting canvas it will make my work look immature... BUT.. theyre really good for tagging and signing your work. so yeah give em a try and see what you like... get a few different kinds and see what works for your personal style and technique.

ask the people at the store and find the ones that have the best flow and the strongest bond to the surface that your working on

sorry if im not much help... you can also just get a wicked nice brush that holds your paint really well and use a gel medium in your acrylic paint to get a look and feel of markers but qwith a better bond and a nicer more mature look

thats what im doing now

sbart4Alivin In reply to Beaston [2005-04-20 21:09:20 +0000 UTC]

what does it mean?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Beaston In reply to sbart4Alivin [2005-04-20 22:14:41 +0000 UTC]

what does it mean to you? ( and im not saying this to cop out...i know what it means to me) but the purpose of art is to evoke an emotion. to get some kind of reaction from your audience... telling you what my work means... is raping you of your observational freedom.

you don't like my use of black... well then thats great! i've suceeded as an artist... no matter what the reaction is its there and i have evoked an emotion form my audience.

so whatever it means to you IS what it means.
