this is definately my favorite out of all of your pieces. its inredably visually pleasing, and the more illustrative characters blend in to be more of a feeling than simply a cool looking character

magnefique. i enjoy your art so much... the illustration is awesome; i notice that a lot of your art reminds me of graffiti or the band gorillaz. great stuff, keep it up.

OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO YEAHHHHHHH
your best peice by far, well of your recent series of works. it has such great texture in the washes of colours between the patches of white, and its just an awesume concept/composition all round.

i realize that my last message sounded like i wasn't listening when we talked before.

i know that you have plans.

it's hard to hear the tone in what someone is saying online.

what i meant was ... if you end up not doing whatever it was... THEN you can come over.

i think you took what i said as something else... sorry i was unclear.

derbyartist [2005-06-16 16:08:57 +0000 UTC]

Geez. I really like the size. Is it just one layer of paint or did you underpaint?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Beaston In reply to derbyartist [2005-06-16 23:09:07 +0000 UTC]

ummmm...

i put the background down, then the purple swirls, then the rough brush strokes, then the black lines.

so i guess its technically 4 layers

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

derbyartist In reply to Beaston [2005-06-17 12:33:26 +0000 UTC]

I guess I was vague...when you paint did you do a layer of burnt sienna(as your first layer) then build up colors before you get to the top most layer? Probably just an art school thing. I was wondering because you seem to be churning these paintings out and underpainting doesn't happen fast.

Beaston In reply to derbyartist [2005-06-17 14:58:56 +0000 UTC]

im in art school too. but wouldn't work out tonal variation with something like this.

it's more expressive and unplanned.

i work with flat colours i dont really need to work out tones
