Especially weird since she should be Persian.

Totes have a point. I always get confused when she's the only one with the french accent if this whole thing was in Paris...XD

ya know, that's true.... never thought of it that way before. I heard they considered antonio banderas for the phantom. He's amazing, but a spanish erik would have been wierd. too carlotta-esque.

Given that I spend my weekends skiing with French people, I don't think her accent is that good, but honestly....Gerik's Irish accent is SO out-of-place.

Ahaha, it's true!! That's my only problem with the ALW Phantom- they're supposed to be in France but the actors all have British accents. Dangit! However since Giry is supposed to be "mysterious" (quoting a synopsis), she gets the right accent. Mostly. (Of course there are many stagings that ignore that little thing.)
Whatever, man, it's true and funny and FAVED.

I would find you downtown
in your net and tinsel gown
find you in places
filled up with faces
shadowed with roses, crosses and lace

Indeed he did. Why they let him get away with that is unknown, but probably his bishi factor. It is there- and they had to give him some kind of chance against freaking Gerry Butler. So accent overlooked in favor of his face and the stuuuupid long hair. *rolls eyes*
