Description Does anyone know which Hawk this is? Is it a Coopers or a Sharp-Shinned?

This hawk has put a new meaning to the bird feeder He comes in quite often and uses the box feeder as his personal feeder! It is amazing to see him swoop in and take a bird and fly off with it! He has about a 70% catch rate from the box feeder. Yesterday morning I finally had the chance to get a couple shots of him.
Thanks much to for the help in editing this shot! You are the best!

According to my Audubon guide, it's a Sharp-shinned hawk. I can see why you couldn't tell them apart - they're very similar. The difference is in the tail. S.S. hawks have squared ends to their tails while Cooper's have rounded tails. My guide also says that S.S. hawks are proportioned differently (they have thicker bodies).

We have S.S. hawks around where I live. They have a very distinct call, which I'm sure you've heard by now. It's a sharp "ki ki ki".

Thanks that is what I thought but the book I have is just a cheap one that only shows birds in Michigan and I don't think it has them all.
I have heard him for 5 years and it has driven me nuts trying to get a good shot of him. We have played many times, he always wins. Yesterday he gave in and I got a few good shots, then he still won. I moved just a little and a small bird flu out of the pine tree I was next to and he flu out of the tree and got it. Of course on the other side of the pine tree so I missed it all. Maybe one day he will let me shoot him in action, now that he knows I can flush small birds from tree's for him to catch.

Beautiful shot!
I'm jealous!

I believe it is a Sharp shinned Hawk.
Notice the shape of the end of the tail!
In the Cooper's Hawk the tail is rounded.
