Yup! Coloured Pencil.

I no longer work with coloured pencil on large pieces anymore. Takes too long!

Sorry about the delay in answering you back. I'm starting to come out from a heavy workload.

God, I LOVE it. The wings kind of confused me at first, the way they've been rendered to be in mid-flutter, but I love the expressions on horsebug and boyminstrel.

Keep it up

With me I see pictures in my head and draw them. Mostly it has to do with insects and their world.

Unique in its Fantasy as are all of your works!!! Bravo! Your "story" for the piece is funny, but I do think that it takes away from the "wonder" this piece inspires. In my mind, he was running from a valentine sent by a persitant and unwanted admirer. I love it, and I love all the work that you have shared.

Okay, okay, mercy! You have attacked me with your fantastic story and I have loved it

I feel I must make it clear that I did not want you to change your story, but only to leave it up to each person's imagination, as it makes the best stories for each of us. However, I stand corrected, the new longer story was a fine piece of art in itself, which inspired many more images in my mind. Ahhhh. The power of imagination is never-ending!

I just want you to know that I simply adore your work. Each new piece is an enchantment!!!

Okay, let's see.
One day the King's daughter (who was quite ugly) while playing with her orange peel collection (she wasn't that bright either), overheard the minstral playing under a a willow tree. she was so smitten by the sweet sound that came from the Minstral's lute that she put down her peels and rushed to him yelling, "Oh the enchantment that is Cupid's arrow! Thy comes in music!" (She was melodramatic as well).
The Minstral, was actually playing a musical spell that would lure all the beautiful women in the kingdom that were desparate to marry. However since all the beautiful women felt that there were bigger and better things in other kingdoms, had left and the spell had to settle for the King's daughter.
The minstral certainly was not expecting the ugly, melodramatic Princess.
"Oh you are the golden source of thy sultry sounds!" the princess swooned with a lisp, "Oh thou is so glorious! Oh,I must go to my father and get us wed! Oh, he will be so full of joy that his daughter is finally betrothed! Oh, look for a letter from the King on St. Valentine's Day. (she can get a little annoying) Oh, and do sing a little ditty of thy love for me to my father!"
So, realizing that she left her orange peel collection exposed to theft, she turned and danced and swayed all the way back to the castle, happily mumbling about the wedding plans and how many children they were going to have.
The Minstral became very nervous. Enjoying his musical, nomadic lifestyle; marrying an ugly princess and ruling a kingdom that didn't have bigger and better things wasn't for him. Then he realised that the next day was St. Valentine's Day and the sun was setting.
"What am I going to do?" the minstral thought as he paced back and forth under the willow tree. He decided to get some sleep and in the early morning, flee the kingdom.
The next day, when dawn peeked through the kingdom, the minstral was startled awake by a huge, ball-like humming bird. In it's beak; a Valentine with the royal seal on it. "The King demands your request." the hummer hummed.
The Minstral paniked, "Err....but I have stage fright! I can't perform in front of the king!" (Actually he lied. He could perform quite well in front of the King.) And as he said this he looked around desparatley to see how he could make his quick get away. He then noticed that he slept in a pasture that belong to a horse-fly (the enchanted equine kind, not the pesky little insect kind). Realizing his luck, the Minstral grabbed his lute and ran towards the grazing animal. In a single leap, he mounted the horse which startled it enough to take off in flight.
When the Minstral thought he was safe, he exhaled and turned around to see how far away from the kingdom and the humming bird he was.
It was certain that he was far away from the kingdom. He had caught a fast horse-fly. However the humming bird was just as fast and was easily keeping the same speed.

I'll leave it there!!
~thanks for the suggestion.
