Description
This is my final project for VAS 141 (Intro to Drawing), which I took in the fall of 2007... it's a tanto I bought at otakon 07... this drawing ate close to 30 hours of my life
it was crazy...Materials Used:
4h, 2h, HB, 2b, 4b, 6b, and 8b pencils
kneaded rubber eraser
plastic eraser
NO blending instruments
Drawn on 19x24in. Bristol, smooth finish, 260 gsm
Sprayed with Krylon workable fixatif, matte finish.
Sorry, I don't have any WIP's, but I do have close-ups:

[link] = Tsuba (hand guard) and fuchi (hilt collar) - 3-5 hours
[link] = Saya (scabbard) engraving - 5+ hours
[link] = Sageo (scabbard cord) 5+ hours
[link] = Tsuka (hilt) design 3+ hours
I don't have a close-up of the blade, but that's because, well, it's a blade... it's not really that detailed.
The blade took around 3 hours, probably closer to 4.

well basically..
life is like a blade,
shiny, beautiful, but yet fragile...
it can cut trough any challenges, slash its way to perfection,
but most of the time it gets dull and rusty when not handled properly.
its a sad story but its the truth....

wow... all I was trying to say was that if you spend 40 hours on something it can turn out close to lifelike! XD that is an interesting interpretation, though. I was in a pretty unstable place back when I drew this, and perhaps those subconscious thoughts were my motivation for choosing this as subject matter.

What, is the sword legal? Yeah it is, I live.... you guessed it, IN AMERICA! and they haven't outlawed katana here XD I drew this looking at my own sword. ^^ I'm really flattered that you thought so well of it!
