Ive been redoing some of my older character dolls and this is the new Sephiroth, I completely resculpted his head and changed his makeup considerably and added eyelashes (eyelashes are a pain in the ass!! lol), Im still working on resculpting his armor before Anime North. IM not sure if ill have time to remake his sword before the end of May but ill try.I like my new Sephiroth better than my first one, I think this will be my last redo this summer and everything else i make will be new from this point on
My original Doll sculpt is in Chavant clay, from that i pull silicone molds and cast in a custom resin mix, i then drill my parts hollow and string with elastic (my dolls are completely poseable) i sand down the seams then paint on the makeups. The eyes are 17mm handmade masterpiece silicone eyes, his clothes are by Dreux Priore.

Im sorry you don't think so, I Displayed him At Otakon a few years in a row and allot of people really enjoyed him,.. Do you sculpt professionally? if so id love to see your doll sculpting work.

I just said that I don't see much similarity between your doll and Sephiroth. It doesn't mean that I want to tell you that your work is a piece of shit, cause it's not. I just voiced my opinion. And no, I'm not sculpting professionally. Nevertheless it has no meaning if I sculpt or not.

Actually It DOES matter to me if you sculpt or not, I thought that if you did sculpt I might be able to get some pointers from you,.. I DO sculpt professionally, Its how Ive earned all of my income for the past 20 plus years of my life and I personally know ALLOT of sculptors on DA who DO make my work look like a piece of Crap and I wanted to know if you sculpted because its very helpful getting sculpting tips from other sculptors.
The Sepiroth doll in the photo was something I did for FUN, I love the FF games and I loved the ORIGINAL FF VII. I never intended to create a photocopy duplicate of the character from the original FF VII game (which BTW looked very different from most of the more modern interpretations of the character most people are familiar with) see screen shot below of the ORIGINAL Sepiroth from FF VII.

Does the above doll look EXACTLY like ANY of the official versions of Sephiroth? ,..NOT AT ALL,.. but I wasn't really trying to do so, plus I don't want a lawsuit from Squaresoft. haha
But to say that the above picture is not even similar? thats a bit of a stretch, I think anyone who's even slightly familiar with the character would probably recognize him 
The Doll in the photo was just a modded version of one of my standard face sculpts at the time, If I wanted to sculpt "from scratch" a version of the character in any of his incarnations I'm pretty sure I could get him fairly close (have a look through the rest of my gallery) again, this piece is simply something I made for FUN around 6 years ago and meant to be taken as nothing more than a fanboy doll artist expressing a love for a game
Please note, Im NOT mad or angry or Offended at your comment, When you are a professional artist you develop a very thick skin, Even if you told me my work was a piece of shit I would have just rolled my eyes, laughed and probably called you an asshole,...your comment simply confused me a little... no bad feelings at all

But I'm not a type o person who calls someone's works pieces of shit. It is just not the point. Maybe I am even too familiar with Sephiroth's character, I know every single square centimeter of his face, every shape, every colour. Many sculptors developed their own style in sculpting, and you're one of them as I can see. It's good. I wish I could sculp, I always wanted to, but I just have no possibility. No money and no time.

Yes i make all my dolls weapons, since i took that pic i remade his armor, it looks much better now (i need to take a new pic of him)
making certain characters can be a challenge but of course thats part of the fun of it, good luck with your character

I've been rather busy since I got back from Otakon this year, but I stumbled across a card I picked up at the con, sitting on my desk and I, at first...had no idea where it came from..then I remembered the puddles of drool I left on the floor in front of this doll..Teehee..

*dedicates her entire life to complete badass ninja training, then infiltrates your secret doll compound to smooch teh doll and tickle it, then gets captured by freaky robot cyborg blah blah soldiers and flips out and totally kicks their butts and escapes and goes home and gets on computer and types this*

There was something about the face of the old one that bugged me, but you did a great job reworking him. This one looks much better, and i'm loving his expression.
