☆ – Warsaw is a city located in central Poland, officially known as it's capital. It's the most populous city in Poland with a total 1.765 million inhabitants and area of 517 km² located on the Vistula river in the Masovian Voivodeship
Its history began in the 9th century when it was first mentioned even though the city began to develop in the 13th century, when it also got it's city charter. Warsaw developed very quickly and already in 1596 it became the capital of PLC (Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth) There is no doubt that the most difficult period for Warsaw was the 20th century and World War II.
On the August 1 at 5 p.m. (officially known as "Godzina W" aka "The W Hour" in the year of 1944, the Warsaw Uprising started, officially becoming the biggest uprising in the entire Second World War. The purpose of the uprising was to recapture Warsaw from the Nazis before the arrival of the Soviets, which planned to make Poland it's puppet state. The insurgents showed unimaginable heroism, men, women and even children fought against the occupiers. Prepared with ammunition and supplies for 3 days, the insurgents spent 63 days fighting alone against the Germans. After the Third Reich won the uprising, 85% of Warsaw has been destroyed as a "lesson" to the rest of Europe, Warsaw became the most destroyed city in the entire world war.
After all, Warsaw, or rather what was left of it, had to be completely destroyed and rebuilt from scratch, fortunately thanks to the determination of inhabitants, the whole country and not only, Warsaw was rebuilt, from now on called Phoenix, that rose from the ashes.
Today, Warsaw is a city teeming with life, combining tradition with modernity. Centuries of history are present at every step and modern office buildings are adjacent to historic palaces. The constantly developing city is a proof that with determination and joint forces it's possible to survive even the most difficult moments in history and rise again.🤍🇵🇱
