Meg White as seen in the July 2007 issue of Nylon magazine (page 77). Jack was in the picture too, but I wanted to draw Meg only. Sorry Jack, maybe next time.
This was a practice drawing, a study of colour, shade and light, which I'm still learning to understand. I used Tria markers and texture pattern - [link] in my gallery.
I've never read Nylon magazine before, so on a whim I picked it up. It claims to be "The international music issue," but I really only chose it for the cover feature (The White Stripes!) and the interesting photos inside.
Question: Would you consider this fan art? I would have put it in that category, but there was nothing for "people" or "music."

I really love this piece and I must agree 100% with lsvr; I adore the knees!
And the proportions are great too! Sometimes I wish I could practice a little bit more to get human anatomy down to the y.... although I find the left wrist a little bit odd, but it's no biggie. :3

Okay... Yep, I see that too. Her arm is slightly tucked behind the dress. That was a tricky part to draw, because it looked strange in the photo too, but I just went with what was there. I'm intending to draw more pics like this.

Thank-you! She is really cool, she seems really individual, I mean that she looks very normal standing apart from others. Some people can't pull off certain styles, but she looks very natural weilding any stlye she chooses.

This is incredibly lovely. The tones are translucent and light, but somehow solid at the same time. The slight meatiness on the arms and the legs are so nicely done. And the knees. I love the knees.

Her dress is drawn so well! And her form is so strong. She really has natural look and I love how much "weight" her pressence has. Awesome background textures, too! Her shoes are so adorable, I love how bright they are!

Thank-you! She had really great poses in the magazine spread, it was hard to chose which one to draw. I'll probably do more of them, it's too hard to resist. I really enjoyed doing this picture, Meg is so captivating.
I coloured Meg first and then went onto the background, where I stalled, trying to figure out whether I would add the grass in the field. I don't have a wide variety of greens, so I decided on the treeline only, and hoped that the white field would carry the picture.
Her red shoes remind me of the Wizard of Oz!

Aww don't hate your pallor! I used to dislike my pastiness intensely, but now I embrace it! People were teasing me this summer, they were shocked that I was so white! I told them I used sunblock... is that so weird? I think it's very feminine and beautiful to have pale skin, so we are lucky.

Nah, I don't like it. I think it looks sickly because I used to work on the farm and get a nice tan. Whenever I am pale it just reminds me that I haven't been active or outside enough (especially in the summer). So this is why I don't like it....
