Nope... it's just something I picked up cause Sony said their (dSLR) apertures were circular which give a better way of blurring stuff instead of hexagonal apertures (which give out a hexagon). Double checked it with Canon and yeah - old lenses are hexagonal, new ones are also circular (at a premium).
