Commission piece.It's a bit of a surprise for the lady who commissioned it because she didn't request anything specific. Rather, she let me have complete artistic freedom to make whatever I liked, and this is what eventuated. I wanted to make something lethal, but still feminie. Let me know if you think I achieved it ...
Blade is hardened carbon steel
Guard and pommel are bronze
Grip is free-form pewter

Unfortunately you cannot have one, as it was all hand crafted and no molds were made, but I could hand craft another, and it would be simmilar, but still unique in it's own way.

This is amazing! I am at an intermediate level in my highschool's metal work class and was thinking of making a blackened copper rose- would you mind telling me how difficult it is to create the metals and leaves properly, and possibly how I could go about doing that?

All the bronze work on this knife has been lost wax cast. I sculpt the waxes myself, then have a foundary do the actual casting for me, which would be the easiest way to do this kind of work.

The delicate looking leaves for the guard(?) are a wonderful touch.

It seems that it would be a little heavy for a dagger with the pewter...is it pretty balanced?

It's balanced surprisingly well. It's very comfortable to hold and fits really nicely in the hand too.
