You're welcome.
Don't they have like, slighter bigger screens to work with now?

Yeah, the new DSi model does, I think it's something like 3.5 inches... still, it ain't no Cintiq. XD

Thanks! It's really a lot of fun, and an interesting challenge to work on a small screen with limited ability to "undo" errors. ^_^

I dunno, I just sorta do it. Though Colors DS is much more of an art program than Pictochat is, so things do come out a bit better. I'm doodling around with another one, but it's tough finding time between school work.

You've played around with it before? I'd be interested in seeing what you've done with the software, you have anything posted anywhere?

nah I don't sorry and my touch screen has gone bung in the middle and it won't calibrate properly now so I have to get either a new screen or DS.
I just tried doing some thumbnails and will try and paint that up properly if I get the time though

Well that sucks to hear... but perhaps it's incentive to pick up a DSi? They sound pretty cool, though if you're interested in hacking it, I think there's only one card that'll work with them just yet. But the fact that it has an SD card slot ought to open the thing up plenty for homebrew.

I wasn't to super excited about the DSi and now even more put off when I heard they are going to be nearly $400 NZD here, plus the region locking is kinda rank as well.
Think I'll try and replace the touch screen myself when I get the time and see how that goes as some mates did 99 drawings on their DS and they were awesome

Yeah, the region lock is especially sad, though I heard the region lock will only be on the downloadable games, it's still sad to hear.

Yeah, sorta surprised me too. You can get some nice detail considering it's such a small form factor.

I'm floored that this could come from a DS! Are you looking forward to the DSi and assorted kinds of programs its supposed to have, or does it seem like too little new to warrant a purchase?

blue-elem3nt In reply to triptychr [2009-02-05 14:19:15 +0000 UTC]
It seems pretty cool, but I think I'll wait and see what comes of it before I decide to buy one. It's nice that it has an SD card slot, built in web browsing and access to the online store, but I dunno yet. I'm pretty happy with my current DS. Especially now that I have a CycloDS with lots of cool homebrew stuff. ^_^

If you get a chance to try one out I highly recommend it! Lots of fun. And if you happen to have a DS, a CycloDS is definitely worth it too.

I have seen Colors as a program used in the DS before. Though I haven't used it myself, painting with a DS stylus would... be fun...

blue-elem3nt In reply to Poila-Invictiwerks [2009-01-29 15:12:49 +0000 UTC]
It is quite a bit of fun. The size and form of the DS can sometimes get in the way, but the program does allow you to zoom in and out to help make up for it. It's a lot more capable than one would think it to be.

Yeah, just the sig. I decided to try something different this time and make the signature less obtrusive. In the past it feels to me that my signature popped out too much. Thanks, by the way. ^_^

It's an awesome homebrew app on the DS. [link]
You just download it and put it on a "passme" type card like CycloDS or R4 and start painting! It's really wonderful. And thanks!

Yeah, it's pretty fun, but it works differently than Photoshop so I'm still trying to get used to the thing. When you get your DS back you'll have to get a CycloDS and I'll get you some cool homebrew stuff for it.

Just go for it! I really can't claim to know much about this way of coloring, but it's a lot closer to painting with real paints. Check out the animations on that Colors site to see how people paint that way, there's some amazing stuff there. I'm sure you'll pick up a few tips that way. Then just get out there and give it a shot yourself!
