I like Ikale, both in her design (she's beautiful! ...don't judge me), and in her backstory.
This is the first time I've ever seen a post-Tolkien elf who has normal character flaws and a charming personality. Seriously, all the ones I've read about are condescending, holier-than-thou jerks who like rubbing their "wisdom" (really the author's) in your face every chance they get without fear of contradiction. Case in point: Christopher Paolini, the hack.
Your character, on the other hand, has notable flaws in her personality that make her more endearing, and tries to learn more from the world around her rather than being dogmatic. Bravo! I'm interested to see what you can do with all these characters.
Also, I like Featherfoot - a majestic, beautiful creature with disgusting habits found in domestic cats. She doesn't puke on the rug, does she?

I love the redesign and her outfit and also the staff. I feel that everything is just so well designed! I also love the snowy gryphon. So cute! I love elves too, oh goodness, "reclusive tree-huggers"! What a great and simple explanation haha!
I have been working for years trying to overhaul a character I made in high school but it's just not working. Thinking about scrapping the character all together.

Aw thanks! That is awesome I never really thought of them that way, but I'm sure there are a ton of characters that I have scrapped over the years. My old character was "Toro" and I was looking through my photobucket to try and find something but her design was so weird. She had purple hair and the half side of her body was a tiger and the other side was a human. Really bizarre. Then I tried to sort of change her so she had more android features but she was losing the original qualities that made her...her I guess! Well, if you're interested later on I will try and dig up some pictures from old sketchbooks. XD

I will surely share when I find them! I don't know what my thought pattern was regarding that character, haha. XD It's just...weird. I remember drawing her in high school after I saw a picture of Inuyasha and at the time I Liked the animal ears on the human head. Later on I actually read Inuyasha and ended up disliking it greatly.

At least you were influenced by the awesome kind of anime mine was influences like "Saint Tail" and other things with big, sparkly anime eyes. D:

Sparkly eyes of doom!! Yeah, I on the other hand can't help making awesomely overpowered OC's, with perfect six-packs and the ability to shatter rock by sneezing. XD
It's not exactly ideal either. Lol.

Lol. I doubt Featherfoot is smart enough to realize that eating the dog could make its owner angry. I also don't think the dog is smart enough to NOT take on a gryphon. XD

FEATHERFOOT !!*swoons*
kaaah yes, I love that thing, I'm glad she gets to be part of the universe.
Another sweet addition to the team, I actually really like the design for this one; her really positive, good natured spirit is reflected well though those clothes and colours, her staff is wicked, she's just got this cool overall vibe to her. And wow, she's a pro drinker too, a couple of sips puts her out for 2-3 days :D. Nice!
I'm seriously considering doing this pair for my side of the art trade (I'm really sorry it's taking so long to get into it, my computer has just kinda died over the past two weeks, and I'm going to need to find some cash and get him some RAM before he'll let me back into Painter :/)

That is like the most awesome character I've ever seen! Where did you get the idea for her, and the cloths, how did you get a mind to make up a masterpiece lake that. The staff's pretty sweet too with the crystal or light at the middle, neat effect!

Seriously? Heh, thanks.
The ideas for her just sort of come together for me. I don't usually have any problems making up new characters and adding a little depth to them. (I daydream a lot, so maybe that's when everything comes together like that. Lol.)
The staff is something of a cross between a bishop's staff, which in turn is based on a shepherd's staff, and a star. I added the gem to make the whole thing come together.
The light clothes are a cross between the garb of medieval priests, and the dress of a princess. I also threw in some Greek elements.
She doesn't wear an awful lot of jewellery, because that doesn't suit the lifestyle of a cleric. They are a humble, somewhat poor bunch of people, after all.
XD Does that answer your question?
Anyway, Ikale is one of my 'Ethara' characters. She's just one of the many inhabitants of a fantasy world, in a modern-day setting. So basically it is a fantasy world, but with about the same technological abilities as our own world. The country Ikale lives in is called Ethara (it's ruled by a somewhat benevolent Dark Lord). If you liked this character, perhaps you should check out the rest of the Ethara cast as well.
This folder contains all my OC's: [link] (more will be added later). They aren't all from the same universe, but most of the humanoid characters are Etharians and belong to the same world as Ikale.

I can never come up with something this original. Seriously, every character I write about is either modified from something else or just lame.

Well, all characters are essentially modifications. I doubt there are really, truly original characters out there; they all fall into basic archetypes. If they don't, chances are that they aren't human (or were made up by a human).
Personally, I think the best method to breathe some life into a character is to give them characteristics of people you know in real life. It doesn't have to be anything really peculiar, just some of the every-day oddities you see in the people around you.
And giving them some form of inner conflict will also help. For instance, if you have a character who is insecure or uncertain about themselves, you can either make them shy, or make them try to overcompensate by acting all tough. When push comes to shove, the tough guy may still crumble, or the shy person might end up doing something courageous, or the other way around. That's your basic framework right there. After that, you just mesh in details of their personality. Background, childhood, hopes, dreams and fears. Quirks and stuff like that. Make sure they all make sense (the elements should interconnect, or be logical in this context). They all add to the personality of the character and it helps to make them come alive.

I'd love to see a story of this. Your characters are deep, and the story sounds really interesting. I lol'd when she found out what killing was. xD
