That's wonderful to hear, thanks! For me ideas usually come from feelings in the moment. With this one I wanted to make amends for some mistakes I'd made, the bird and the boy are acting out that apology visually.

i thought this looked familiar. It's a significant improvement, particularly in the depiction of the bird (love the attention to detail on the feathers!) Β but i think the colours soften it somewhat. Perhaps that was your overall intention and this image is more how you want it to be now, but i feel like this version is less visceral than the original. the kite carcasses on the ground are more dreams then ghosts now, the failures of the past weigh less on the mind as we reattempt flight. Perhaps, though, this is not such a bad thing. Β

Hmmm that's so interesting...you know, when I first drew it, it came from having these really immediate feelings of frustration but hoping against hope to get past it. Revisiting it now, I thought a lot more about that hope. About the color of cold sunrises. It wasn't really conscious, but I guess some softening was inevitable with the passing of time. (And also with the medium, but I always knew I wanted to take it to watercolors eventually...)
Huh, I feel like I learned something HAHA. Thanks for the insight as always.

A pleasure as always. Your art always contains so much depth, it is a delight to dive in and really stretch my mind out within it.
