Description ((hahahahaha look at that cat, oh boy, can you tell I have been drawing dogs my whole life?? ? Oh deer lord,,,))

This is my application for the new group Searching for Starfall. Oh man its been so long since I have had the guts to try to RP, I really hope that they let me in.. This group seems absolutely lovely.

---------------------------------
Name:
 Oryx

Age: 3yrs 1 month

Rank: Hunter

Gender:
 Male

Breed: 80% Oriental Shorthair, 20% Unknown (presumably large) breed
His shape is almost exactly like that of an oriental shorthair, but he has longer fur in some areas and is significantly taller than most cats.
However, he is not overpoweringly strong, as he has no weight to back up the bit of lean muscle he has. His only advantage to being built
how he is is speed. His long legs and lack of excess weight and bulk make him incredibly fast and able to go long distances without tiring.

Orientation: Straight (Asexual and mostly aromantic, though it is not a well known fact among others unless an issue arises)

Faction: Morkeskogen Tribe

Religious Beliefs:
-He acknowledges that there is a possibility that gods could exist, and respects those who do believe them,
but he does not believe in them...
---------------------------------
Personality:

Quiet:
To most, even those in his tribe, Oryx is quiet and a bit removed from the general activity of the group. If they are all eating,
one could bet that he is out for a walk, or vice versa. When approached and spoken to, short answers and nervous behavior are what often follows.
Once he gets to know a cat though, he loosens up quite a bit, and can actually be a little too comfortable at times, becoming loud and sarcastic.
However, if he feels this is being ill received, then he may completely shut off and at times even resort to avoidance to try to rid himself of the
      embarrassment he caused.

Interested:
Proving to be an occasionally troublesome trait; Oryx has the will to know what makes other cats tick.
If someone is upset or acting strangely, he will be rather driven to find out why that is, even if he makes no moves to do so
due to his shyness and aversion to confrontation. He just in general wants a better understanding of the world around him
so he can better cope with the existence of things he may not understand, feel, or be able to relate to his own behavioral patterns.

Tenacious/Persistent:
When Oryx gets set on getting something done, it is very hard to get him to do anything else.
This intense drive is excellent for smaller and more immediately gratifying tasks like hunting or other sorts of physical labor tasks.
When it comes to larger things like fighting or self improvement it is a detrimental state of mind because he will dwell on such things
until they are absolutely perfect or finished completely, leaving him with a lot of trivial but heavy tasks on his shoulders.

Ill/Short tempered:
While he is usually quiet, if someone or something pushes past his boundaries, he is far too quick to go from shying away to snapping.
Since he is rather shy and does not appreciate intense social situations, if he feels his emotions are getting out of hand or he is too anxious,
his fight or flight goes nuts and he will often end up storming off in a huff over a small issue or a quick dispute, leaving others frustrated and left hanging.

Independent:
Unless it is an order, or a given due to the task, Oryx is not the type to want to work with others/as a team. He feels that he is far more productive
when he is working alone, or if he must, in as small of a group as possible, with as little face to face work as possible.
Unfortunately for him, this can lead to arguments, and more seriously, overexertion especially with intensely physically taxing jobs.

Needy:
Due to some of his obsessive tendencies and intense mindsets, he really needs to be constantly occupied with jobs and activities to remain stable.
When he is not assigned work, he will often give it to himself, and when there is nothing left for him to do, he will frequently go on long brisk walks
and explorations, hoping he does not lose track of time and have to spend the night out or sneak back into camp at an unreasonable hour..
This need for mental occupation can also be filled by social interaction, which is frequently more effective than unreasonable amounts of frivolous tasks.
---------------------------------

History:
I.
Oryx's parents were two very happy and well off cats. They had know each other for many moons, and had formed a connection instantly.
His father is a small and soft spoken mixed breed (60% Oriental Shorthair, 40% unknown/heavily mixed) tom with a glossy rich brown coat that blends in perfectly with the forest floor.
He was an excellent hunter, and a very dedicated tribe member, knowing all the other cats very well, who were mostly quite fond of him. His mother, whom he looks very much like,
was a tall, brilliant orange, Oriental Shorthair tabby. She was as thin as a rail from birth, but this granted her nearly unmatched speed, which lead her too, to the path of a hunter.
Both being hunters in the same tribe, naturally they got to know each other even better than when they were kits or underlings. His mother had been a hunter for a while
before his father had even gotten his full name, but as soon as he was, they both clicked.

Jumping forwards, they had many litters of lovely, healthy kits. They were good parents and, were almost always on good terms with their children, even after they had
grown up and gotten their full names. After a few years, they could both tell that they would probably lose the opportunity if they didn't seize it right them,
so they decided to have one last litter of kits before slowing down their very active lives. This lat litter was the one that Oryx was in.

Right off the bat, things were a bit amiss. It took longer than usual for his mother to become pregnant, but they pushed that fact aside for happy and optimistic thoughts of raising the
upcoming litter. For a while after that, things went very well and as usual, but then his mother fell ill. Nothing grave, but due to how thin she was normally, every sickness was a bit of a scare
for them, especially now that she was carrying kits. Fortunately, she made it through without any immediately known complications, but she was having a harder time bouncing back to her
usual health. The birth of the litter went well, although one kit was stillborn, and with the small litter, that left only two. One that looked like the father, a small golden brown tabby,
and one that took more after their mother, a tall, orange and white tom; thin as a rail, just like her. There were some laughs about how he is the first to take that trait from her, and golly,
just about all the other ones too, except he looked like he got dipped in white, an unusual coloration considering both of his parents were for the most part solid colored.

II.
Ever since he was a kit, his quietness and tendency to be easily flustered was very apparent. Though he played well with his brother,
he never did do very well with most of the other kits unless they dropped by very frequently and didn't bother him too much. When that was not the case,
and when they just showed up and wanted to roughhouse, he got very upset and would often walk off or hide next to his mom in an attempt to not be bothered.
This left him with very few friends, but that was just the way he liked it. Very early on he developed a will to learn about what was outside the camp and asked for
stories and great description of the world. As he grew, both he and his parents knew he wanted to be, and probably would be a hunter, and more so,
would not make a very good fighter considering his irreversibly scrawny build and distaste for confrontation.

III.
When he became an underling (Named "O"), he was very pleased, as he was chosen to be a hunter, however this was not as great as he had imagined it being when he was a noname.
His mentor was not as compatible with him as the leader apparently thought. To start off, she was a very religious cat, and often worked that into their training. The excessive focus on this
frustrated him because, although it was good to be learning how to be a hunter, it was tough to choke down all the religious talk, that he didn't truly believe in.. Another place where they
butted heads was that she was rather casual about the whole thing and wanted to make it "fun" so she tried to involve other underlings in the training as much as possible. He struggled
with this greatly due to his lack in social skills, and just distaste for lots of hands on stuff with other young cats. Despite that, he still had a good time because hunting was just as great
as his parents had talked it up to be. The bursts of speed, the hunt, the exploring factor; it was just what he needed!

One day during an independent exercise of his, in an attempt to sharpen his skills further before his next lesson, his lust for exploration got the better of him
and he realized that he had not crossed the river into the spider forest, but he had gone into the beasts realm. Thoroughly spooked by this development, he began to make his way back,
   following the sound of rushing water, but before he even made it the length of a tree, he heard something over the sound of the water which meant two things. One;
that he was not as close to home as the thought, and two; that he was not alone in these woods. No sooner than when he took his first running step, a dog burst out of a pile of thorns,
and went barreling after him. Luckily, he was fast, but not quite fast enough. The dog was much taller than him, so his strides were out competed. As he made a mad dash for a big tree,
and began to scramble up, the dogs jaws came crashing together on his tail. Swiftly, he was yanked out of the tree and fell hard on the earth.
The dog was clearly not a hungry as it was bored, because it began to swing and drag him about like a toy. He was able to push back on a few of these blows with his paws before he got flung
far in one direction. He didn't look back but ran towards the stream, took a flying leap across, and ran straight into his territory. Only then did he find out, that the reason he escaped was
because the dog was left with the last few joints of his tail. The shock wore off, and the pain came on fast, so he sprinted back to camp and went straight to the Wicca to get his scrapes,
bumps, bruises, and of course his mangled tail, all patched up.

His training was set back a bit while he healed up from the encounter with the dog, so he finished his time as an underling a little later than most of the other cats around his age.
He grew to be a rather good hunter, and gained a lot of good skills from his mentor, but his personality and response to some things were changed quite a bit throughout that time period.
His distaste for time spent with cats he didn't know very well was greatly increased, though his coping skills also got better since he could no longer hide from it. He learned how to tolerate all
the talk of the gods and how religion is interwoven into so much of his life through all the exposure he got to it. Nowadays, tolerance is often the name of the game for him, and he is fine
with that as long as he gets some time to himself to relieve the stress of a crowded life.

I love oriental shorthairs!!! My application (that I was honestly too stressed to send in, oops) was my oriental shorthair/bombay mix Eira, and I'm really happy to see that there was at least one OS that got in. I really like your character!

Oh boy, thanks!
I am so thrilled, its been ages since I have had a chance to RP anything..
So glad such a great group came on that is actually kinda "strict" about realistic characters and admitting quality people??  ?
((Except for the multiple ears and tails thing but w/e...)

the emphasis on cross breeds and realism is just such a satisfying thing !! the split tails and ears are a bit of a stretch but it is possible and i guess some wanted the feeling of having that unique quality !
