I just picked up a copy of Ultimate X-Men TPA 15 and got all melancholy about the one of the group shots and the conspicuous absense of Beast. Yeah, I know the bastards killed him off a good while ago, but I'd liked where they were taking the character before his untimely death. So I was thinking about that and the stupid feline take he got stuck with in New X-Men and it made me want to draw the Beast I know and identify with (big, hairy, clever guy who moves well? Yep, definitely my favorite X-character!) so I knocked this out at the end of the day at work. I like to play up the ape-like characteristics of Hank, and there's a lot of that in this drawing. They brought back Ultimate Beast, but he's not blue anymore (always my favorite of beast's many forms)

That's good to hear! I really loved his design, both non-blue and blue, and thought he was one of the more interesting of the Ultimate X-Men characters before they killed him off. He had some interesting conflict, the family ties were interesting, just a lot of good stuff there. I haven't been doing Ultimate X-Men on an issue-by-issue basis, I've been doing the TPBs, (the only books I do issue for issue are Fables, Jack of Fables, Astonishing X-men, B.P.R.D. and the new Tank Girl. Other than that, I just prefer the trades), so if he's been brought back recently then I haven't read it yet, but thanks for the glimmer of hope! I look forward to reading good Beast stories in Ultimate again.

It's a small glimmer.....He's working for SHIELD on the Legacy project, so it's doubtful he's gonna make many apperances in the future.....

ive always loved Beast, he is in my top 3 favorite x-men (it constantly rotates between Rouge Beast and Nightcrawler, but beast is number 1 right now )
i hate that they killed him off in ultimate and turned him into a cat thing in new... what's odd is there is something very attractive about Beast, he's huge and dangerous, but his mind is this sweet man, highly intelligant and exhibiting animal like grace but also gentleness, and he has this poetic sadness about him. *siiigh*
