Hi,
That's a very amazing picture! I took the liberty to invite it to my group, I very much hope you will do us the honour to accept the invitation.
Of course, if you wish to join our group, our doors are wide open

love the post processing - it really has a vintage feel to it, even more so with the scene and the lantern...

Its a great image, and I really do love the texture, I thought it was shot through fogged glass that had been rubbed out, which would have been pretty exciting. I saw it through being subscribed member of the-yard so I was kind of confused when I read you're comment reply about it having that texture added in post, I thought the-yard didn't accept photos that were edited in any ways other than cropping/tilt and levels type adjustments + desat. for digital. Am I wrong about that now? I know the rules have gone through some changes recently.

The yard has an 'Edge' gallery specifically for street photos like this

(c) Limitations: We do not accept images with selective coloring, selective PS blurr, a too heavy "post processing feel" to it. - We do not accept processing that will affect the reality of the scene - no manipulation will be accepted. (And when we come to new cross roads we will simply add to this list. Hell the admins are exploring here too...!)

I thought that meant no manipulation will be accepted?

bQw In reply to nonparticipant [2011-09-14 23:38:39 +0000 UTC]

There's nothing selective about the post processing. It was a crop, contrast change, saturation change, and application of a texture. Each was applied to the whole image.

Also, take note of the last sentence. Again, that's where the "edge" gallery comes in.

I like this! It has a painterly quality to it. Strong composition with the lantern dominating, then leading the eye to the woman with umbrella, the arches, then onto the people just coming into frame who are kept out-of-focus... great colour and atmosphere!

Is it taken through a glass? The texture and the lantern add a lot of atmosphere to the scene.
