Those of you, who really wanna know, join me on this journey and let's dive in!

RΓ©sumΓ© of a champion

Lyn Dragona was born in Dragon Village in the mystical realm of Krysta. Though born in dark times, during which demons terrorized the land, Lyn has never not been special.

Descending from the legendary amazon queen Lucia Dragona, Lyn was one of many Dragona girls, hoping to follow in their ancestor's footsteps and become the hero that banished evil from their home.

Hundreds of years ago, Lucia Dragona had battled the forces of evil alongside their patron saint Bahath the divine dragon. She had won the war and apparently just disappeared afterwards.

Outside her home, Dragon Village, the people had even forgotten her name and just refered to her as "the legendary amazon queen".

When the demons overran Krysta, the only thing stopping them from invading Dragon Village was the presence of Bahath, even though he hadn't left his cave in ages.

Born into these times of hardship and war, Lyn trained since her early childhood for the day where she would answer The Dragon's Challenge. All Dragona girls entered Bahath's cave on their 18th birthday and tried to retrieve Lucia Dragona's legendary sword Dragonheart, but not one had been deemed worthy yet.

It was actually this fact that first broke one Lucyna Dragona, who was heartbroken when Bahath rejected her as his champion. Because of this she would choose a path that would ultimately lead her into darkness, which is another story entirely.

12 years after her childhood idol Lucyna was rejected, Lyn answered the challenge on her 18th birthday and was indeed chosen by the divine dragon.

Accompanied by the young Blue Mage Zeon Wisefield, White Mage Giselle Destiny and Ranger Joan Dackord and led by the mysterious Sword Stalker Branded Curse she journeyed to the location of the legendary Holy Stone to reawaken it and have its light banish the demons from their lands.

During this voyage Lyn met more allies, like the Kunoichi Tara, the grumpy Dwarf Grimbard, the Elven Queen Celia Daulius and Kira the Dark, a Dark Elf. The latter quickly courted her and won her over, which soon proved to be a ruse to steal the Dragonheart from her. Turned out Kira had needed the magic sword to save his people and had developed real feelings for Lyn during the journey. Because of this, the two would ultimately find back together ... for a while.

The biggest shocker for Lyn was coming face to face with the Demon Lord, who turned out to be the restless spirit of Lucia Dragona's former lover, seeking vengeance on the people who betrayed and murdered his beloved.

Lyn would eventually succeed to find the Holy Stone, but was mortally wounded in battle. The Stone's magical light healed her, though, and granted her immortality.

With the demons banished to the realm of shadows and peace finally in effect, Lyn was called a hero and crowned queen. However, things could never be the same for her. What Dulaghan, the Demon Lord, had told her, shook her to her very core. Her country was build on lies and the supposed spiritual leader Gemadan, who was worshipped as a god these days, had actually betrayed and killed Lucia Dragona. Lyn never spoke his name as a blessing again. But when she tried to tell people the truth, she soon found out that even a hero, who saved the world from darkness, could be discredited and fall. As a result of her refusal to accept Gemadan's teachings, her newly build queendom Dragon's Lair was excluded from the High Council that ruled over Krysta. And Lyn, trapped in the body of an 18-year old girl, became a royal outcast over the next several decades.

After a 20-year hiatus, Lyn would eventually be accepted back into the High Council after some more heroic deeds and when her friend Celia Daulius took over as High-Queen.

Still immortal, Lyn would see her close friends get old, while she remained young. Only several years later was she finally "freed" from this, when the Demon King Thanatos stole her immortality to gain the power to finally enter the realm of Krysta.

Before that, she was reunited with her childhood idol Lucyna Dragona, now a seasoned veteran. During a trip together to recover some stolen goods, Lucyna turned on Lyn, revealing she had joined the side of Tiamat the Black, Bahath's malevolent twin. Lyn fought Lucyna and was later forced to kill her to save her friend Celia's life. While Lyn had killed several times in battle before, killing her idol, a Dragona sister, rattled her.

Then, when Thanatos threatened Krysta years later, Lyn and her remaining allies opened the door to the realm of the dead to raise Dulaghan for their side. They accidentally ended up resurrecting Lucyna Dragona instead.

The following battle against the Demon King saw the first and only time in history that Bahath and Tiamat fought side by side. Of course, Tiamat and Lucyna would turn on Lyn and Bahath in the end. During the ensuing fight, Bahath sacrificed himself to save Lyn and kill the now much superior Tiamat. Meanwhile, Lyn defeated Lucyna again, taking her arm in the process.

With Thanatos and Tiamat destroyed and peace restored, Lyn put Lucyna on trial. She knew she should have executed her then and there, but she didn't have it in her to kill her big sister again. So she instead stripped her of the Dragona name and exiled her.

This would come back to haunt her. Lyn, now mortal, began to age and became a lot calmer. While she never married Kira the Dark, the two had an on-again, off-again relationship that resulted in the birth of Lyn's only daughter, Yenna Dragona. On the day the latter was old enough to earn her first real sword, a Dragona tradition, Lucyna, now calling herself "The Fallen", returned and ambushed Lyn in her own throne room. Using Black Magic, Lucyna had regained her prime and this time outlasted Lyn, killing the queen and traumatizing Yenna, who walked in on the scene.

Following this, Lucyna the Fallen went on a crusade and wiped out the Dragona Tribe, driving them into extinction and ending their legend.

Lyn would finally find peace in the afterlife, but it was not to last the promised eternity. When Krysta was overrun by a new menace, the Deino Ghouls, who threatened to bring back the dark ages, Lyn was resurrected to save her homeworld once again. The spirit of Bahath brought her back, the dragon granting her the strength of his former physical self to re-enter the world of the living. Thus she became a much mightier being than she had ever been. Not just a warrior or a queen, but perhaps a demigod. With these new powers, Lyn drove the ghoulish plague away almost single-handedly.

However, as she found out, she had been gone for a long, long time. A millenium had passed in Krysta and her home was no longer that. She was a legend, a myth and nothing more. All her friends long dead and the world unrecognizable to her, Lyn, now calling herself Dragonborn, decided to leave. She went with Yenna to live in the world her daughter called home. A cozy place called "Earth".

What happened after that is a story, you all probably know by now

Except if you don't, it can be found in the

Lyn arrived in our world and was mostly just shown around by Yenna, doing little of substance for the better part of two years.

Then, during the events of OTERWORLD: Homefront in 2016, she regained the essence of the Dragonheart sword, now called the Dragon's Spirit, when Yenna Dragona died fighting Deathwatch.

While the war was won eventually, the loss of her daughter added depression to her already existing battle with survivor's guilt. For a while, Lyn didn't know how to keep going.

She would overcome those troubles later, through sheer sense of duty, self-discipline and an oath to continue her late daughter's work as the protector of this world.

I'm innocent, I created her years before I met you

This is who Lyn Dragona used to be, before I reintroduced her as Dragonborn around here.

I can't help but see some similarities to Aura's journey ... even though they started as "different classes"

Great image - and reading the bio makes me want to do that Vigil/Dragona team up even more! The modern version of the character is fun, but I definitely prefer the sword & sorcery warrior version

Thanks, glad you do

I could never properly write her, though. That whole thee-thy-thou thing, I just can't get it to work outside my own tongue.

It's always experimental business. But that's how she talked back then.

Doesn't mean you'd have to write her that way if you revisited the character and time now - I would imagine whatever we see/read would be translated from Ancient Krysan (?) anyway!

Now that you mention it, it would probably be called Krystian ... which sounds like Christian.

Which is funny

What kind of story is that?

It's a comic by ARH Comix. Β Also, a line of Phicen doll- 1/6th scale figures of the character are produced.

Maybe ... or maybe it's the blonde, wild haired amazon vibe.

They often seem similar. Same goes for Shanna the She-Devil.

Lecter-the-Mu [2019-10-05 02:42:45 +0000 UTC]

So when Lyn was no longer immortal, did her body progress to match her age

Now for the voice you gave Dragonborn, would you also you use that voice for when she began her quest for the Holy Stone and reigned as the Dragona Queen? Or do you associate her current voice with her "demigod" status and have something else in mind for her younger self?

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Branded-Curse In reply to Lecter-the-Mu [2019-10-05 07:14:15 +0000 UTC]

When she lost her immortality, she started aging normaly.

So no rapid aging because of that, but her body would naturally decline like everybody else's.

Truth be told, I don't think about voices that often anymore.

But of course she would have needed to sound younger as an 18-year old.

Hope you like her backstory, too.

It's still the shortened version, with some events missing ... but there was no way I could write down a five-novel series in a nutshell and expect people to read it.

UrsaMagnus In reply to Branded-Curse [2019-10-05 11:30:12 +0000 UTC]

I do. She's fleshed out quite nicely. Really adds to her as a character, and makes me appreciate where she's come from.

Branded-Curse In reply to UrsaMagnus [2019-10-05 12:16:12 +0000 UTC]

I didn't mention it here, but because of this history, she might me made of steel on the outside, but she has struggled with survivor's guilt and depressions on the inside.

What kept her going was a sense of duty and iron self-discipline.

Even though she has shown cracks during recent DU events ... well, not that recent, but shortly after Yenna's death.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

UrsaMagnus In reply to Branded-Curse [2019-10-05 14:01:43 +0000 UTC]

For an immortal (and in her case, one who has gone beyond the veil and back), having a level of survivor's guilt and depression only makes sense. That's both a heavy burden and responsibility for her to carry.

Branded-Curse In reply to UrsaMagnus [2019-10-05 14:22:33 +0000 UTC]

That was the idea. I want my character somewhat based in reality, no matter how fantastic they may be.

I'm one of those people, I can buy any fantasy setting, as long as the character interactions make sense.

I don't like dark for the sake of dark or jolly for the sake of jolly.
