Description Samus wasn't always blonde wearing her Zero Suit, she had green hair and pink skin! Back in 1986, she was first thought of as a robotic dude, but when you beat the game, she was unveiled as a human woman. Best deception ever in a video game.

So, I thought I'd draw her in her original design. It was a lot of fun to draw her in a different way, with long, flowing green hair, the pink skin, and the hot pink 'Justin Bailey' body suit. I also added a little Metroid, as she's in Tourian (portrayed with the shitty job of using the 8-bit tiles, haha).
I didn't want to add the arm cannon, as it made her look weird, so I opted for a pistol thing. It can still shoot Metroids, and let's just say she also has missiles in there too.

I used this stock photo as a pose reference, from - She has a really wide variety of cool poses!

Drawn in Paint Tool SAI, and painted in Photoshop.
Thanks a lot for looking.

Yeah - the password to get her green hair and pink suit is JUSTIN BAILEY

Looks good. Makes me think of art on the boxes of old barbie dolls as well as She-Ra Princess of Power with that 80's glamour face and hair, and then there's the retro body suit.

I think I was inspired by that style of art, so thank you for noticing! I love the old school Barbie and 80s aesthetic, like She-Ra. All them curls and colours

That is my favorite game from my Nintendo. Love it. And to think most of the better games from that system didn't come out until the 90's. Man this picture takes me back. Great job

You know if you keep playing the same code over and over, she switches to this, then back to the original armour. I think it's three or four times through that it switches.

If you draw her with her actual sprite colors, she looks like a low-budget alien. I AM OK WITH THIS.

But actually that'd been pretty different. Afterall why should she have to actually be human anyway.

Actually once you get some cooler abilities, you just have to make sure you don't fall into the wrong holes. I've beat it and I'm not too good at video games. The only issue I have is the last room glitching on me (I have the original game)

I love mine^^ My uncle bought a remodeled version (I guess that's what it would be called...). You can't find the originals except at flea markets, same for the games. My uncle still had his games (some dope head stole the original system...), and I usually trade games with him since my dad kept ours too. We still have the original Mario game. Can't beat it to save my life, but it's good to have

ah, the old Justin Bailey cheat code. She also wears this in the Mario crossover game when she gets the Fire Flower in the first version (and dons the awesome Wave Beam)

Looks cool!

Ohhh, not many people do! They might just know her from Super Metroid, the Prime series and Brawl. But I like hoe she was a part of a big Nintendo trick
I hope you don't mind if I save a bunch of your pose photos, to use for later artworks, you have such awesome, dynamic poses! And I will surely credit you when I submit future works on here. Keep up the great work!

was 1986 the Japanese release? I was sure the American release was in 1989...?

bratchny In reply to WolfenAmphithere [2010-09-25 07:27:51 +0000 UTC]

According to Metroid Database, it was released in the US in 1987, but I was referring to the original release date, that's when it first came out, and for the Japanese, they were the first people to be surprised about Samus' true identity.
