Yeah I know, I'm about 2 weeks late to the controversy. I just got around to seeing the movie this past Tuesday. Sorry for the delay.

ANYWAYS…

As most of you know, the actress Rose McGowan took issue with the billboard advertising X-Men: Apocalypse because it was "casual violence against women". And, as predicted, it didn't take long for the feminists and the social justice morons to foam at the mouth and follow suit, resulting in 20th Century Fox apologizing and removing the ad. Here's the article: www.hollywoodreporter.com/ramb…

So, like what happened last year with the #ChangeTheCover bullshit (my response here: Batgirl #41 Variant Extreme ), I just HAD TO respond to this one!

Seeing as 20th Century Fox owns the X-Men movies along with The Simpsons, I just thought it would be just too perfect to combine the two, especially since Homer strangling Bart has become such a staple in popular culture!

Also, I decided to add the fact that Apocalypse's throat was cut as that was why he strangles Mystique in the movie.

I remember when Feminists got their panties in a bunch over the promotional artwork for this film. Still, I find this quite ironic, because these same feminists weren't too concerned about all the men that Mystique beat up or killed in the original trilogy.

I love the Simpsons reference; it really flies in the face of easily-triggered feminists. You even got the clouds right. It's good that you were able to take something satirical to mock a group of people that can't even be taken seriously anymore, and who are so easy to mock these days.

This is one of my favourite of your works. Keep up the great work.

Hey! Thanks so much for the critique! Yeah, I really had to research the Simpsons style to try and replicate it, though I think I might've gotten the background a little off.

I think I was one of the people in the minority as those who liked X-Men: Apocalypse since as a child of the 90's and a fan of the old FOXKIDs cartoon series in which Apocalypse was a major villain I thought it was good of them to bring a "Fuck you I'm evil" badguy in a time where every villain has to be as complex as Tom Hiddleston as Loki or they're considered a failure. I was also a fan of The Simpsons until there just got to be too many goddamn episodes to keep track of. When I saw this on the Deviation page I couldn't contain my laughter as you combined the serious dramatic tension of the finale of the film with classic Simpsons satire. Where it falls apart for me is the colors for being too simple, the backgrounds too simple, and there's something off with Apocalypse's armor since if I remember it right his skin and armor are the same color. But again, major points for the good 90's nostalgia and making me laugh.

Thank for the critique! Yeah, that was the really tricky part of trying to draw this in a Simpsons-style. The art style they've adopted is very simple using clear base colours, whereas the live-action film uses a gray variation of them all combined with lighting and shadows, so trying to simplify it was a challenge. But I'm glad you liked it overall.

Oh, and you're not the only one who liked the movie. I thought it was pretty good and better than Days of Future Past.

Funny thing is, if it was a woman chocking a man there would be tuns of feminists saying how empowering it is.

It's like a villain isn't allowed to be a villain or something.

Oh yeah! The double standards are ridiculous, but the justifications for them are disgusting.

As a girl I actually find it more sexist that feminists want censorship like that and don't want female characters shown as having weaknesses or losing in battle.

That reminded me of that time they bitched about the Batgirl and Joker comic cover even though Joker is one of the most evilest villains ever in fiction and he's just doing his job as the bad guy, also he is pretty abusive towards Harley so why would he be any different towards any other woman?

I agree they love using the excuse "MINORITIES WERE OPPRESSED IN THE PAST" which is just stupid especially when it comes to a work of fiction

Oh I agree 100%. It's extremely sexist to demand special treatment based on one's sex. It's why I did the extreme version of Batgirl #41 Variant, to show how much worse it could've been.

Emmafoster178 In reply to brentcherry [2019-07-24 02:56:23 +0000 UTC]

Not to mention if it was a male character they wouldn't be bitching. Saying that a work of fiction promotes violence against women is really stupid (I might even say the r word that triggers a lot of people)...it's retarded. Even when it does happen  it's not the works fault , it's the person fault for trying to re and act something that isn't real and not being able to tell the difference between fantasy and reality.

This maybe off topic but I also hate how most modern shows and movies that star a female lead have to hammer in the fact that it stars a woman. Like with Ghostbusters 2016, Captain Marvel, Batwoman and most recently Charlie's Angels. Using someone's sex as a marketing point is sexist and pandering imo

brentcherry In reply to Emmafoster178 [2019-07-24 05:52:13 +0000 UTC]

They feel power in expressing outrage and people bending over backwards to appease them. The best way to approach people like that is to laugh and not give in.

I also agree. Having a female cast doesn't automatically make it good. Case in point, the god-awful Ghostbusters 2016 movie.

The thing with SJW"s is that they go from being easy to laugh at (Trigglypuff and Zarna Joshi) to being just shitty people . But yeah I agree most of those types of people are pretty easy to laugh at

Also the new Star Wars movies has a female lead and those movies are bad imo I also just find Rey to be a really boring character, she has no personality outside of being a strong woman.  Even though I wasn't crazy about Alita Battle Angel (it was okay imo) but I liked how unlike Captain Marvel and most recently Batwoman and the Charles Angels remake, it didn't use it's female lead(s) as it's selling point. I may love strong female characters and all but I like it when they have a personality outside of being a strong woman

One of my favorite youtube channels "Dr Shaym" made a great video about strong female characters.

Here is the link in case you haven't watched it yet

Main villain chokes character that just so happens to be female - Triggered feminist yell on tumblr
So long as men are the only ones depicted of being physically harmed, feminazi's don't care.

It was still a damn weird way to advertise a superhero movie.  How many others had a billboard of someone getting choked?

Okay, if you say so.  I thought it just looked out of place.  Like rainbows and butterflies in an ad for a Horror film.  Or karate hi jump kicks in an ad for a Romance.

Because you can have men killed in dozens of horrible, screaming ways (like for example bury a guy in a wall, or a dozen of them alive in concrete. Geez that was pure nightmare fuel), break mens bones, stabbed, gored by adamantium claws. But show Mystique being choked and suddenly it's all up in arms?

They did get the part were Apocylaose was super obviously evil right? God complex? Tried to brainwash everyone in the world? Planned to kill millions? What did they expect him to do? Ignore her? Casually backhand her away? Or would that still be too much?
