As was mentioned previously, Michi comes from a point of time a little ways into the future. At this point in time, an eccentric and wealthy individual got the bright idea to turn an individual into a Celebi morph in order to advance research and knowledge into the past; to further the understanding and uncover the mysteries of past civilizations and time periods.

In order to do this, and because of the strange instability in trying to use the genetic information of Mythical Pokemon that tended to cause completely different results than the intended one most of the time, this wealthy individual sought volunteers willing to be morphed. They would also offer any person who agreed to this a million pokedollars, believing that the success of creating a Celebi morph would end being worth far more.

Michi was, after a good number of people, the lucky one. He had actually been pushed into it by his own family largely for the money. He had no real hopes of actually becoming a Celebi morph, and up until it happened, worried that he would have ended up as something he would have hated.

Not long after his transformation, and before he could fully take the time to explore things, Michi would be surprised to suddenly be hugged by a Celebi popping out of a time rift. A Celebi that seemed to know him very well due to having met him previously within his own future!
