Wow. The expression and the lines of her face echo years of wisdom, knowledge and a life well worn and hopefully enjoyed. Oh the stories she could tell! I'd love to hear them!

You remind me so much of Bresson with this picture, and of course thats a good thing, because he was fabulous.
I love square compositions, I feel they are entirely overlooked for portraits. But they work so well figuratively, fitting this asymetrical, non-geometric form into the most basic of frames.
It was an excellent choice, especially for her.
She has such an old world feel.
She is what my 99 year old crazy great grandmother would look like had she not moved from the "old world" (Sicily) when she was 14.
It has that nostalgia to it.
Happiness with the simple life.

Nice photograph. My mother is from Europe and it reminds me of the pictures she has of her grandmother and great-grandmother. I look at this old lady and can't help but think that she is sweet, with a little bit of cheekiness. One of those European woman that work hard and are great nurturers.

Wow! This is wonderful, and framed so nicely. Good contrast throughout, and that face speks to me with the wisdom of the ages, just as the title suggests. I would love to sit with her over a cup of tea or coffee and listen to her as she tells her life story.

I just noticed the chicken in the background, I love it even more than i did before! my background is persian, so im from iran. A lot of peopel keep chickens as pets, i had baby chicks when i lived there. Alot of elderly people enjoy having them too. So this picture i really like since i can relate to it, and recall memories and scenes from my life there.

You can see from the picture that this woman is still young. Here eyes are shining and her smile.... man, I love it.
