This was my first try at doing a portrait with oil pastels, hell it was my first try at doing a portrait coloured. That's why it doesn't look anything like Trent Reznor, it certainly doesn't do this sexy man justice and in fact it wasn't even supposed to look like him. It was more just for me to pracitice with colour and oil pastels to see what I could do with them.I wasn't going to put this up at first but I would really love your thoughts on it, especially if you are familiar with oil pastels.

don't be so hard on yourself, it totally looks like Trent! we are our own harshest critics, but that's how it should be.

They're those little white patches everywhere which aren't nice, but it's a really small thing, barely worth mentioning.
And the yellow on the cheeks seems out of place to me since it isn't really anywhere else..
But it's still great.

Yeah the white patches are annoying but no matter how many times you go over them they never go away and I don't like covering things up in PhotoShop. And the yellow was just from the photo.

good use of Oil pastels - try painting in oil...is more fun- he he.
Maybe the eye in the shadow ..is a little diformed ...couse of the shadow...but in the rest...this is a good portrait...

Yeah I think that eye is a little deformed but it's really hard to get sharp thin lines, so I couldn't get the oil pastel in the right places.

it looks a bit gritty....I think you could have blended it a bit more...but overall it's a DAmn fine job.

Yeah I know what you mean. I tried to blend it as much as I could but it was driving me mad. There was so much black and every time I got a bit of black on the cotton bud - what I use to blend things - the black started to go everywhere so I just gave up in the end because I ended up making such a mess.

Excelent, very realistic, even thought it was a photo in the thumbnail. The hair at the front is done very well, but I think thereit too much of a dip on his face on the left hand side, his right eye also looks a bit thin, like hes from asia or something. but very well done.

I love this since I am a fan of oil pastels and Trent Reznor. Ah, very precise details, w00t. I think you did him justice for the fact that nothing quite justifies him.
