Breena looked out from under the eave of the stables. The clouds were gathering in great number, blocking the sun out. This morning had been beautiful, and she had the chance to catch a couple of the first dressage performances. They had all been spectacular, and she hoped her and Belve were up to par with them. Looking out again, she prayed the weather was on their side, and would hold off for just a bit longer.

Finishing the last touches on Belve's shining coat, she started getting his tack ready. A soft pitter patter came from overhead, small at first, then gaining a steady rhythm. *Oh no, not now* Breena thought to herself. A low, gentle roll of thunder sounded. Resorting to ignoring the rain, she tacked Belve up, making sure every little buckle was shined, the leather was not marred, the saddle blanket clean of hay. While doing these small tasks, she thought of how Candy was doing out on the trail. She had hoped the schedule would have allowed Candy to watch their performance, and for Breena to go send off Candy. But alas, the scheduling fates had other plans. Breena and Candy had spent two months in Ireland at Breena's parents farm. Breena got to know Candy a bit better, and now had some great memories of riding down the old roads together.

The rain hadn't let up at all. Breena held her umbrella close to her and Belve. He was such a good boy, just taking it all, umbrella and all, in good stride. Just before she had to mount up, she gave a quick message to Belve's legs, just to keep them warm.

Once up, she had him warm up a bit, only staying at a walk. They got dripped on, but the overhanging's from the stands kept most of the rain away from them.

***

A peal of thunder sounded overhead. Breena and Belve stood at the ready. As their music began, they passaged into the ring, going to the center, slowly. Halting, she gave the bow, not rushing, and not slagging. A big BOOM that was not thunder sounded, and off they went at an extended trot.

Oooh! The music was well chosen for listening while reading. I love all of the details on this. I like you you have the HARPG Olympics logo in the background, and I really love the horse's tail. I also love how the rich warmth of the horse's colors stands out against the cool colors of the rain. Great job!

Thanks! It wasn't as fun to do as his other dressage, but it was so fun to do the rain!
