Etymology- Borrowed from French gamine.
Noun- gamine (plural gamines )
1. A (usually female) street urchin ; a homeless girl.
2. A mischievous , playful, elfish , pert girl or young woman.

Gamine - Used in English since the 19th century (e.g.- William Makepeace Thackeray in 1840, his Parisian sketches).

In 1936, Charlie Chaplin cast his then-girlfriend Paulette Goddard (1910–1990) as an orphaned gamine (credited as "A Gamin") in one of his last silent films, Modern Times.

It’s been a little more moderate around here. The leaves are already changing colour, which is always something to see; unfortunately, I had a bit of a setback.
