Overview:
Lionceau (The Lion Cub) is the daughter of Jeanne de Clisson (1300–1359), ‘The Lioness of Brittany’, a 14th Century privateer.
Her Mother, The Lioness of Brittany, turned to piracy after her husband; Olivier de Clisson IV, was falsely accused of conspiring with King Edward III ; and unjustly, executed, without any evidence being made public, by King Philip VI of France , in Paris, for treason on 2 August 1343.
Jeanne took her sons Olivier , Guillaume, and Jean-Louise (Lionceau) from Clisson to Nantes , to show them the head of their father, displayed on a pike, at the Sauvetout Gate.
His remains received further humiliation, by being hung by the armpits at the gallows at Montfaucon in Paris.
She commanded The Black Fleet, with hulls painted black, and sails dyed red; harassing French ships and ports; until, the French Navy destroyed The Black Fleet, in 1346.
Jeanne, The Lioness of Brittany, her sons Olivier and Guillaume, and Jean-Louise (Lionceau) were adrift for five days. Guillaume did not survive, succumbing to exposure; and, Jean-Louise was taken up into the Heavens, by an Angel/Falling Star.
Since then, the legends say she sails the Heavens, helping those in need on the water, in the sky, or in space; and, punishing the greedy or unscrupulous, such as those who killed her Father, as her Mother, Jeanne The Lioness of Brittany, believed, just to get his lands and holdings.
---------------
The Song of Lionceau The Lion Cub has lines saying that Lionceau blew her horn, Olifant, three times, calling for help, before it shattered, after The Black Fleet, sunk off the coast of Brittany.
This mirrors The Song of Roland, when the paladin blows his ivory hunting horn, calling for help, at the urging of the knight Oliver; and, the call echoes through the alps for three days.
It also parallels earlier passages in The Song of Lionceau The Lion Cub, when three times her Father says that he must answer that summons of the King to attend a tournament, under a flag of truce;
But, her Mother, tells him not to go. Of course, as history tells us, he does go.
The King betrays him, executing him, on unproven charges.

The Song of Lionceau the Lion Cub [Excerpts]
Come near all of you and hear the sad song of Lionceau The Lion Cub-
The youngest pirate maid, to sail the briny seas-
She prayed to the stars above for mercy, because of all the nations on the Earth,
In her short, tragic life, she found none, for all she was worth.
-------------------
Lionceau, Lionceau, the youngest pirate maid, you blew Oliphant your shrill horn,
Three times, until, it shivered, and split; echoing to the heavens who knelt to hear-
And, no help came while you were adrift on seas, except for the stars who knelt
Down to hear, and, then lift you up among the heavens and the stars shining clear-
---------------------
Notes:
While The Song of Lionceau says Lionceau blew an Olifant, an ivory horn, it’s possible that she blew a Fipple Flute (a recorder).
Earlier in the song, it says that she played the Pipe and Tabor (skin drum), to keep time with repetitive work and entertain the crew. This was a common instrument combination with minstrels.
-----------------
It’s unclear how her Mother, The Lioness of Brittany, signalled to the other ships in her fleer, or her crew; although, horns, drums, whistles, and flags were used since antiquity.
It’s also uncertain how the French Navy sank The Black Fleet. At the time, the French Navy was primarily galley ships; while The Black Fleet, was likely cogs, fit with castles, at the bow and prow.
Firearms and cannons were rudimentary; and, the primary weapons were crossbows and antipersonnel weapons. Fire, of course, was the greatest danger to the wooden ships.

Just for clarification, Lionceau, a.k.a. Jean Louise de Clissons and the scenarios are my own Original Character creation.
Although, her Mother, Jeanne de Clisson (1300–1359), The Lioness of Brittany, and others are Historical Figures;
Their participation in the events of The Lionceau Legend is nevertheless the work of an Alternate Timeline and my own Sub-Creation.

Nota Bene:
It’s actually a horn- Horn (instrument) shown in the description,
Not an Olifant (instrument) ivory horn-
The Vikings ’ horn (8th – 11th Century) are the closest equivalent to the horns used in Lionceau’s lifetime, during The Hundred Years' War and The Battle of Crécy(1346).
It was after The Lioness of Brittany helped the English win The Battle of Crecy, that the French Navy ambushed and sank The Black Fleet.
Although, it’s still more likely that she played a Fipple Flute, like a Recorder;
Especially, since, the Embouchure isn’t as difficult.
(Although, I’ve played the Recorder, flute, and Tuba, at school, if not terribly well; at least, they made a sound. My brother, was assigned the trombone; but, gave up, when he couldn’t even make a noise in time with a practice drum.)
